Looks a tad small but would work fine for a DD.

What is your altitude, boost target? pressure ratio and mass air flow must be known in order to determine if this is properly sized for what you want to do.

I hope I'm not hijacking your thread Brice.
The altitude I will DD at is 1500ft, occasional trips can vary from 1500ft to 6000ft here in the mountains of British Columbia.
I was going to start out with a pressure ratio of 1.7 to 2.0, hoping for 300-350hp at crank with 5-9psi of boost.
Approximate mass air flow would be around 30lb/min at 1.7 ratio, and 35lb/min at 2 ratio.
Can I determine what RPM the turbo would spool at based on the compressor map?
Does anyone have any good info on wiring and tuning the MAPECU3?

    Thanks for the help

There's a Mapecu3 group buy currently going on that ends this week if you're interested. Save you about $200

Thats funny i originally was gonna get the MS3 and madtaco talked me into the mapecu3... And i think at the same tine i talked him into the megasquirt. It looks unbeatable for the price as a standalone ecu... Good luck man

He doesn't mention anywhere what fuel mods/tuning hes running. Looks like 7th injector and meth injection anyways.

I hope that is the BOV fluttering, and not the compressor surging.

Isn't there supposed to be a sophisticated bypass system in place on those dual charged systems. Looks like he's just boosting straight into the sc.

Pulled my turbo off to replace with a smaller one and god damn the thing is still in excellent shape. No shaft play what so ever after 4000 miles. It's a CX GT35 with a journal bearing. The only thing wrong with it is the drain on the center housing is too small since it's not for a journal bearing.

I would not hesitate to run one of these turbos again, at least not a JB. I've read a lot of bad reviews about their BB's being janky.

There has been discussion over the years as to wether you need a bypass valve, or if the CFMs from the turbo will actually reduce the load on the roots or screw style supercharger like blowinng on a pinwheel. This is supposed to negate the RPM limit of the supwrcharger as the bearings arent being over loaded in one direction (direction opposite of the force of compression) rater they are helping the engine rotate through the pully. In theory, it's a sound determination. Like auto gyro mode for your supercharger haha

I don't have any leaks, but my wastegate was constructed from home depot brass fitings, so im pretty sure its the culprit.

Yup :D About a week or so ago lol... STFT are ok and LTFT are ok too, good enough for me.

Nope! Not at all. I can't help with the super technical stuff since I haven't looked into all of it personally. But I probably should.

And again for some reason I'm not getting any emails from this thread and idk why...I unsubbed then subbed back so we'll see

I've set an EBC as my next buy for the build. I was thinking the GFB one.
The truck pulls hard at all throttle points, and I fixed the super rich open loop issue. part throttle no/low boost (0-1.5 psi) AFRs are 13:1~ mid boost is like 12:1~ and full boost is 10.6-11.0
I feel like those are safe AFR's for 8 psi currently.

    Current to-buy list by priority
    • EBC
    • SS intercooler piping.
    • Bigger IC
    • True trac
    • lowered a bit? (It feels strange going fast in something tall...)
    • Cal-tracs? tbd
    • F5 SCS wheels? tbd
    • Street tire? tbd

Wow looks like he has a 2" to 1.5" SC pulley...But we know he's serious because of the out the hood exhaust.
with a pulley that small I hope he has billet gears...

shit were did you find a URD port fueler?

You'll be outside the effective range of it. Its a bit small. Will spool super fast but probably choked off on the upper rpms.

No doubt. If he is on a 2.1'' pulley and just 4 psi on the turbo, he is looking at 18-22pis compounded....I don't think it'll last long without a fully built bottom end. Probably not super worth it without built heads either.

But to all the haters. It IS in fact do able. Compound boost is great and works best with a roots type blower which the trd one is.

I have seen a guy retro fit our blower onto an MKIII supra motor. His power curve was insane. And torque curve.

    Drove great too.
