So after a long time of research and thought, I've decided to turbocharge my 1999 PreRunner. Just yesterday I ordered the following:

CXracing manifolds, downpipe, crossover and turbo.

Turbo is .70AR cold .63AR hot, billet wheel and ceramic bearings.

two 2.75" to 2.5" silcone adapters

    two 10an 45 degree fittings

    10an drain flange

    10an stainless steel bung

    5 feet of 10an hose

    An AN6 oil cooler

    Two 4an to 6an adapters

    Four 4an 90 degree fittings

    10 feet of 4an hose

    4an oil feed flange

Female 3/8ths to 4an adapter (to screw into block)

Male 3/8ths to 4an adapter (to screw into the previous)

    oil catch can

And I think thats it! If I buy more or if stuff gets in I'll update this thread.

Ive been eyeing the cxracing kit for a while now vs the 7th injected supercharger. What's your plans for fuel/fuel management?

Think I'll be going turbo here before too long myself. Supercharger just isn't really cutting it for me. Can't wait to this how this ends up, good luck!

Well as far as fuel goes, I won't use anything less than 93. As far as management goes, AEM FIC6, 550cc injectors, boost controller and a boomslang harness (at least long term) Short term I'm just gonna run low boost on the stock system. Its good for about 5 psi before it leans out. (I'll be running around 3.5-4 till i can buy the fuel management, 10psi is my longterm goal)

Definitely interested to see how this goes. Don't know a huge amount about turbos, but isn't the stock 10.5:1 CR kinda high for 10 psi boost?

For the 5VZ-FE Compression is rated at 9.6:1, so 10psi shouldn't be too much.

Ok so yesterday some parts came in!

    -6AN oil cooler

    -4AN to 6AN adapters

    -Four 90 degree 4AN fittings

    -Two 10AN 45 degree fittings

    -Oil catch can

-Male pipe thread to Female 3/8ths adapter

-Male 3/8ths to Male 4AN adapter

    -4AN turbo oil feed flange

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yeah so nothing too exciting but hey its somethin! The things I ordered from CXracing are coming Saturday (hopefully). Also for anyone who may wander, No I didn't ordered the "kit" from CXracing. With the use of @GioGuitarDude build thread and a handy list compiled by @gray223 I made my own "kit" so to say lol. Anyway once I have all the parts I intend to use I'll make a full list of parts and compile all the threads and resources I found useful while researching how to do this, Into one mega Turbo 5VZFE how-to thread as I don't think one exists. :D

So how exactly are you going to run the oil lines? I know there was some dispute on using some restrictors or something. That's what I didn't quite have set on my list on exactly what to do with the oil line...

    Well, Block<Male pipe thread to Female 3/8ths adapter<Male 3/8ths to Male 4AN adapter<90 4AN fit<4AN hose<90 4AN fit<4AN to 6AN adapter<6AN oil cooler<4AN to 6AN adapter<90 4AN fit<4AN hose<90 4AN fitting<4AN inlet feed flange<restrictor.

You'll want your restrictor post oil cooler so that way a tiny lil orifice isn't trying to fill an oil cooler+oil lines+turbo.

As far as using a restrictor goes...https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/oil_restrictor

    Lil update.

Truck was running like crap recently and couldn't figure out why.

I scanned it with my SG2 and it returned some MAF codes, figured yeah makes sense, as far as I know it's the original MAF. So I replaced it....but of course that wasn't the issue (or atleast all of it).

As it was still idling around like crap i decided to take it out for a short drive to see if Mr. ECU needed to learn the new sensor. Nope.

The SG2 now began returning codes: P03000, P0302 and P0306, meaning I had random misfires and was definitely misfiring on cylinders 2 and 6 (P0302 and P0306) Spark plug wire or ign boxes.

And so today I replaced whatever cheap-no name plug wires and boots the truck previously had with a set of blue NKG Plug wires and boots, and Bob runs better than ever before!:burnrubber:

I noticed idle was a helluva lot smoother too. And replacing the old MAF couldn't be too bad as I'm about to boost this lil thing and it'll need all the help it can get lol.IMG_20160624_161258695.jpg

Turbocharger .70AR cold .63AR hot, billet wheel and ceramic bearings

    Turbo manifolds, crossover and downpipe.
    Intercooler and intercooler piping
    silicone couplers
two 2.75" to 2.5" inch adapters (for MAF)

    And all appropriate gaskets.
So before i get one of these :worthless:

    IMG_20160625_151359590.jpg
Some things in the picture weren't mentioned above but will be included when I finish the project and attempt to create a 1st gen 3.4l Turbo dictionary sticky thread.
(so that way people such as my lazy self can have all the info they need to turbo there 3.4 all in one thread!)
