I did the mod with the 886's and they work a whole lot better. It is difficult to see with my tinted windows so I gave it a shot. I had to add a little bit of solder where the connection is so it would be more of a snug fit because it was a little loose in the housing.

I have these tails & put silverstar bulbs in the reverse lights. Much brighter than oem. It's like going from having none to having some good ones without adding aux lights to the rear of the truck. Still would do that if I towed much & needed to back up at night tho..........

    Hey fellas,

For you who have done the reverse light upgrade... I cut the plastic housing off the 889, then you have the two metal prongs. Don't you need to twist those back to the glass, (one on each side) for contact?
Or can you just make them super short, just nubs coming out of the the glass housing, and that is enough?

    Thanks

I left the prongs as long as I could and carefully folded them over to provide more thickness for a better fit.

I have tried on 2 bulbs, and cracked the glass on both...

Did you heat up the prongs, to make them more flexible?

    advice?

Use needle nose pliers to grab one end of the tab (towards the capsule) and bend against that. If you bend against the glass, you will break the glass.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
If you search someone found the correct bulb to do a direct replacement. Personally I am going to just pop some 100w h3 bulbs in there.
