I have used many different bulbs sold out in the market today for reverse light bulbs and I found these LED bulbs to have the brightest out put for sure.I installed these on my gen3, they are the same bulbs for the gen2 tacomas. I do not have a light lumen tester or anything I am simply stating these bulbs are noticeable brighter compared to all the other bulbs I have used. Hope to help those looking for a bright reverse light bulb set up. Plug and play so easy install.

I found the best price to be on ebay - AUXITO LED Reverse Backup Light 921 Bulbs ...$29 or so, there are many different sellers of these bulbs on both ebay and Amazon

    Specs
2000 LM per bulb - 4000 LM total
    color: HID white (6000k)
    Canbus - Plug and play

Wow those are some bright back up lights. I have auxiliary back up lights now but I’m going to get a set of those. They appear brighter than most auxiliary back up lights I’ve seen. If you’ve ever had to back down a 4 WD trail at night you’ll know why you want the brightest backup lights you can get.

So basically you take the old one out and plug in the new one. No wire splicing? I don’t care if I have to but I’m just curious.

Just ordered them. Thanks to the OP. Great post, great pictures.
I spend a lot of time in the boonies hunting and fishing. When it’s pitch dark and I have to back up these will make a huge difference. They’ll help too when I’m backing my boat down a launch ramp in the dark.

Plug and play bulb, no splicing or any additional modification to install these bulbs properly.
Below are photos of the LED unit compared to stock bulb. Both bulbs are the same at the connection point. Also photo of the LED installed into the taillight.

    IMG_7857.jpg IMG_7858.jpg
The baby blue color seating of the LED feels like it is made of a rubber/silicon material. You simply push and give a slight twist of the LED inward of the taillight housing. The LED unit does not lock in like the factory connector, but it is held in very securely that there is no way of it falling out if installed properly. Very straight forward install.

Be careful not to confuse "brighter" with "more useful light on the ground." Although the photos do appear to show "brighter" reverse lights, remember that the camera does funny things with lights when it's dark out. Many bulbs that appear "brighter" are just blowing more light out where it's not needed. As for the stated output, one also has to be cautious around those numbers. Many manufacturers use theoretical output as opposed to measured / actual output and actual output is always less. 2000 Lumens is guaranteed to be a theoretical number.

Personally, I'm waiting for our resident lighting expert crashnburn80 to weigh in on these bulbs. His most recent deep dive into reverse light bulbs didn't include the bulbs mentioned in this thread, but it would be very interesting to see how they stand up to a more scientific study. Here's that thread / study: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-921-led-reverse-light-bulb-study.490137/page-4#post-17413667

Yes, I agree with everything you said... I did read the thread by crashnburn80 of 921 Reverse light bulb study. I would also be interested in the a full study and comparison of these LEDs against others.
I am satisfied with these LED reverse bulbs and I just simply wanted to share my experience with others. As we all know all the lighting on Tacomas are poor. These are reverse lights so as long as they are bright and clear output that I can see through my dark tint windows and back up camera at night I am happy. These bulbs are significantly brighter and put out more useful light over stock and few other LED bulbs I have used in the past.

Do they have bulbs for fog lights or stop lights? Great pictures, thanks.

That style LED reverse light is very bright, the same one is sold by various manufactures under a few slightly different permutations. However, more reputable sellers will tell you that it is overdriven and intended for very short use only. Extended use will cause the driver to overheat and fail. Many vendors refuse to sell this style product due to the high failure rate, others just warn the consumer.
    https://headlightrevolution.com/gtr-lighting-high-output-1-000-lumen-led-reverse-bulbs-t15/

While that eBay seller may spec 2000 raw lumens, output is about 1000 actual lumens. However LEDs drop in output as they get hot, and that design gets so hot so quickly the product fails, so that 1000 lumens likely drops off rather quickly.

If you’ve ever had to back out of a narrow trail, this can mean being in reverse for very long extended times. Those lights would overheat and fail. I run 860 lumen HIRs which can stay on all day with no drop in performance or product failure.
