 That's the kind of shit that makes cops look bad...the least he could have done was flash his badge when he pulled out the gun...very unprofessional! Thankfully no one was killed.

True, the plain clothes cop over-reacted, but the dumb-ass in the ski hat didn't make things any better by yelling at him. In an argument between civilian and cop, the cop wins everytime. Just watch a half hour of Cops on fox.

Before you come to a quick judgment, and call an Officer a "C@ck sucker". Perhaps get the other side of the story.

The Officer in question was hit by countless snowballs and his hummer also. He did not point the gun at anyone, and in some agencies they train their Officers to take out their carry weapon in these type of situations.
After his hummer got stuck at that intersection, he was hit with snowballs. He then asked people to stop throwing snowballs at him, and identified himself as a police officer. But people still threw snowballs at him.

But they are investigating this, and I hope the Officer did act appropriately. If he did not, than he needs to go on un-payed leave.
He should have pulled out his badge, but maybe he wasn't able to.

I think what the rest of the story will show us was a group of Anarchists with balaclavas and bandanas obscuring thier faces were staging a protest and became violent, including throwing snowballs. When one Officer showed up,he was pelted with not only insults and obscenities but snowballs as well. One of these snowballs hit an Officer in the face and the incident escalated from there.Snowball to the face by a chicken-Shit protester hiding behind a mask equals assaulting a Police Officer/Battery.

Probably not a good idea to judge based on a couple of strategically placed youtube vids.

It's easy to point fingers when you only have PART of the story. Why didn't this group of people find a park or other open area besides a street to have a snow ball fight?

Throwing snow balls at cars does not qualify as a snow ball fight. Not to mention, some snow balls can have rocks, ice, or other solid material in them that could break windows or cause other damage to vehicles.

A couple of the other officers had their guns in their hands as well. It only takes a SECOND for a fight to break out...

haha oh man I understand, just a hell of a funny statement.

But I'm with the officer on this one, when a group of people get together they feed off of each other like a bunch of animals.
there was no need for the gun, but one officer against that many kids... what else should he have done?

They are throwing snow balls at him while he has a gun out! How stupid, they are lucky he was a Detective. If he was some crazy guy they wouldn't be stirring it up. I agree with Squad314. These were not college kids throwing snow balls for fun. These were people imo who wanted to stage a protest and get things out of hand. There are people who do this for a living, travelling around the country inciting violent protests....I hope the Detective doesn't get hung out to dry for this
