    Hey all,

There is an irritating rattle coming from the passenger side dash in my 2010 DC LB.. I took the dash apart and put tape on all the loose wire insulation but that didnt fix it, the service guy at my dealership told me that there was some sort of recall for some sort of clips under the windshield??
Anyway I'm dropping the truck off tomorrow morning and getting a free loaner to beat on:cool:. I also printed out the suspension/tranny TSBs and told the service girl I wanted them done as well.. they said they will check it out to verify if it needs to be done. I told them that the bed banged a bit when I had it loaded up going to SC, do they put a bunch of weight in the bed and drive it around, or do they just look at the leaf springs and decide if it needs to be done or not?

If they 'check it out' and decide they won't do it, what should my next step be?

Regarding your dash rattle on the passenger side, my 2010 turned out to be the passenger air bag on/off switch. If you remove your glove box, you can reach around and feel that it is tube that is very loose and not supported inside the dash. They replaced mine and it still rattled because there was no way to tighten. The only relief was to pop the front cover and use small wooden shims to pull away from the dash and thus tighten in the process. To check for this rattle while going down the road, simply put your finger on it and push in to tighten.

If they decide not to do it, start researching all the threads about it here.
Some dealers are very happy to serve their customers
others will tell you anything in hopes you will go away.

And no i have never heard of a dealer actually putting weight in the bed.

I had the infamous 'glovebox rattle' fixed under warranty in my truck. It was some loose wires behind the glovebox that were making the sound. The tech just strapped them so they couldn't move. Problem fixed.

I also just got the tsb for the transmission lag done. I would highly recommend getting this done asap. The truck drives so much better now

Thanks all! Hopefully they find the culprit. I had the glove box apart a few weeks ago, and bound up all loose wires that I found - no dice :(. My truck doesn't appear to have a toggle for the passenger air bag. The manual said 'access cab only' where it had the key hole in the dash. I left the printouts for both TSBs on the seat, and the vins matched, so I hopefully they won't give me any crap about doing it.. since they gave me the loaner its no skin off my back if they have it for a while

So strange, I am having the same rattle (terribly annoying!). I took my 2010 into the stealership this morning to get the TSB's done and they are giving me crap about it so we will see. I told them about the rattle though, hopefully they can fix it. If not, I will try to do it myself.

I verified the VINs on the TSB matched mine, if they give me any crap, I'll just call Toyota directly. I don't see how ANY dealer could give anyone crap, isnt it pure profit for them, reimbursed by Toyota?

My mentality is if I just bought a brand new truck from this same dealership and I am wanting them to fix something that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place, they should just do it. If i am just making stuff up and trying to get them to replace stuff (i cant think of a reason for this, since it is a brand new truck) then that would be a legit argument for them to make.

FWIW, I couldn't get any local dealers to perform the TSB on my '06 and when I called Toyota they gave me the same runaround. Dealer's aren't required by Toyota to do TSB's, it is only a 'suggested' way to remedy a problem. Now I bought that truck used, you may have better luck if you take it back to the dealer you bought it from.

Dealer called....they said they replaced the leaf springs for me and fixed the rattle, but they said it was coming from the passenger side seat(??) Hopefully thats what it was but it sure did sound like it was coming from the dash.
