Very cool to see so many tacoma guys that were old school VW guys.

I had the MK2 itch myself all through high school and college.

I had a couple of them with this gem topping out my collection:

90 GLI 16V in Calypso Green. Around 70K original miles when I sold it in 2007.





I had to grow up and sell her unfortunately, but I passed on the gene to my little (and much more mechanically inclined) brother.

He built a MK2 VR6 turbo while still in high school 430 WHP



Well he also decided to grow up and got into a MK6 GTI, but after a year or so his need to build outweighed the benefits of having a new car, so that was sold and here's the latest, greatest and insane build which is almost complete.

Body: 98 Audi A4
Drivetrain: VR6 turbo, B5 S4 6-speed, quattro on standalone.
Motor, trans build and all custom fabrication (motor mounts, adapter plates etc) done in house, smalltown garage.

It should be rolling out in the spring at roughly 700 AWHP and one of maybe 10 at most across the country.

I miss that car so much, I wish I had the space to keep it in storage, it was practically a time machine back to the 1990 showroom.

When the space and funds allow it I would love to find another but it's certainly not easy.

That or a bone stock unmolested corrado SLC will be in my garage at some point.

Thanks. Old VWs are getting impossible to find. I looked for a new, clean shell to swap everything from mine over into but had no luck.

I dream of owning a Nugget Yellow G60 Corrado from time to time....

So cool more Volkswagen enthusiasts on here! Very clean GLI and what your brother is building is so sick!

Yeah I hope to get another Volkswagen to tinker with in the future I'm thinking maybe a nice project car of some sort I can slowly build and maybe enjoy during the summer and keep the Tacoma as a nice daily driver but we will see what the future holds.

California has some nice shells here and there nothing is impossible. Thesamba and vwvortex and craigslist you'll decent stuff pops up when its meant to be. ha

 

I'm gonna stay away from the blacking anything out I kind of like the chrome badge

 

I think my next plans are to get a Tan Soft Top, suspension and exhaust and be done spending money for a while. Happy New Years I hope this next year is a Good One for us all!

 

Yeah some really clean specimens show up on vwvortex, but you have to be willing to spend much more than most people would on a 25 year old car, it's worth it though.

Unfortunately here in PA, thats not the case. It was more feasible for me to strip mine down to a shell and fix all the rot and other issue

definitely. I paid 4000$ for mine back in '05 and thought that was alot. Id pay upwards of like 6k$ or 7k$ for a clean early GTI or a late GLI

Hey whats up guys! just figured Id do a quick update! I put on 5100 Bilstiens set at 1.75 and just put on a Softopper today. Truck has been doing great. Hope everyone is having a Good One!
