Who can tell me what service is required at 20K or “the third service” at the Toyota Dealer. It’s my last freebie; I just want to make sure I don’t get a surprise like… on this one we change your spark plugs, coils, fuel pump and 4WD system. For only $…….”

I think it was break adjustment or some bs. Spark plugs are around 100k. Mine was painless.

Ok perfect. I got hosed on Number 2; which as the pun will go... was a shitty, overly pricey filter replacement.

Here's to avoiding the dealer after this... or something like that.

New 265 75 16 Toyo AT3 open country. Love the aggressive look! Little more road noise but good ride. Can’t wait to go try them out!

Hello B.C. people, sorry to cross the border into your thread, but I have a few quick question below--curious if anyone from B.C. is able to share what they know. Grateful for any tips.

    1) Best place to buy new or used Scepter military gas cans, anywhere between Vancouver and Banff (like this)? You can't buy them new in the U.S. because they are military issue and the market for them on eBay is both overpriced and limited. I see them for sale on some of the Canadian overland stores, so I suspect they must be sold somewhere in a real store as well.

    2) What is the etiquette for your undeveloped/rustic hot springs, both in terms of swimwear and entering if people are already in? Is it ok to disrobe if others are present (assuming only adults are)? If people are in the hot springs, is it proper to wait until they vacate or is it ok to join the same pool if there is space? So far only been to two and it was surprisingly a fairly high age group in both, looked like retired folks. California and Nevada rules are basically just be respectful and it'll work out ok, but just curious if there's more of an organized set of informal rules in B.C.

    3) Any idea why the Chief Mountain border crossing isn't open or when it might? Admittedly it's not in B.C. Tried to go last year and COVID was the reason for the closure, but it's still closed this summer. Kinda silly but I really want to go through that border crossing between the two parks.

    4) Is the level of tourism up or down as compared to last summer? I went last September to Alberta and B.C. and it was actually a pretty light crowd in both places. I suspect that was due to the COVID hoops you had to jump through to get across the border (vaccine proof, recent negative test), which I didn't mind since it seemed to have thinned the herd of folks coming up from the U.S. Planning to go again in mid September this year and am just curious what to expect in terms of how crowded things might be as compared to the same time last year (general question, I realize).

    5) Where is the best poutine in B.C. - hahaha. My favorite in Alberta was at a little breakfast place in Banff, so curious if there is a favorite in B.C.

All right. Let’s talk Tune pricing.

anyone know if 500$ US or 645$ CAD for any tune. Seems pricey to me?

This for an OTT tune. Just curious what tacos in the area are paying?

I can only offer help on these two.

1)You can find those gas cans, or similar ones at Canadian Tire store.

    4) Even with skyrocketing fuel prices I can most certainly tell you that there are way more vehicles on the roads than this time the last two years.

yes… I feel like this is more inline with what I have heard elsewhere.

I’m mostly asking for someone not in TW… but I thought 650 was a bit outside of the normal around here.

how is your OTT tune treating you??

regarding hotsprings; it would depend on the occupants already soaking. (example;social and age group, ethnicity, level of intoxication)
what would you do in your own country?
ask them before you squeeze in or peel your shorts off.
    sounds like you aren't shy.
we’re from diverse cultures and upbringings. not everything tolerated everywhere.
Canada is not much different from usa.
    less AR 15’s and glocks.

I was undecided on getting a tune because of the cost. Happy I got it now, but I can’t really remember how poorly it behaved pre-tune. For my driving demands I didn’t find the truck all that bad anyhow.
At $490 I was on the fence, anything more I think I’d just deal with the shifty-shift transmission.

And no issues to report so far, which is good.

True that! Thanks much, this is helpful. I'm a Californian, so will probably approach the same I would around here but enhance the respect factor out of caution.

The Canadian Tire gas cans look great, but they don't seem to have the military ones, which are olive or sand colored and more sturdy. I'll scroll through some of the army surplus places around Vancouver see if I can't find some.

You could always check out Dave’s Surplus.. commonly known as DS Tactical. in the Vancouver area.

In the valley (probably not as likely to specifically carry them) but you could check in with Joint Force Tactical as they are at the old Military Base which is still a Canadian Forces training area. They may have a contact.
