If you are installing some Baja Designs Squadrons one CBI mounts in your 2021 Tacoma for ditch lights….

    One.. you are stoked.

Two… the shop wants $260 dollars plus tax for that install…..

…. this seems mentally high for this install doesn’t it? Am I missing something that makes it incredibly amazing to install these on our rigs?

considering most shops are probably $135 an hour and they are quoting I would guess 2hrs labour. The old shop I worked at wouldn’t even do accessory installs until I started working there. Guess they figure they can make more money banging out brakes and ball joints. It’s too bad because when you do need something else done you probably won’t call them. If you want to come to Powell River I will help you install them for free :)

Hey TacoPacific, That does seem high for a rather simple install. I would say the hardest part of the installation is feeding the wiring through to the cab. I've done this install on my 14 Tacoma and didn't have much of an issue. I would get a few different quotes.
    Best,

Hey super appreciate the reply! Most shops quote on a one hour install for these; I’m not sure why this would take two hours. I can’t get my truck into my garage right now with RTT on top and bunch of tools are in storage.

I’m going to call around a wee bit. I asked them why the fee was that high in case I was totally missing something.
    Cheers!

After September 18th it’s first come first serve to September 30th. Then after that it’s limited service. You may want to contact before going. Also, snow should be coming to the area soon. However, this crazy dry, warm weather is enticing to head up there contrary to normal seasonal weather changes for the worse.

Yah I called BC Parks. They told me it was CLOSED

I called Sea To Sky Parks. I’ll see if they ever call me back. Otherwise I will trundle on in and hope
    For the best.

So I talked to S2S parks and Birkenhead is limited service… but walk-in only. Gated… apparently. So instead we will do the old Alice Lake … should be packed and keep our kids entertained.

Ah that's too bad. Plan for next year maybe. I'm tempted to do the Hurley pass this weekend before the drought is over and the enviable snow arrives. It's spectacular up there this time of the year.

I would consider staying overnight in the Bridge River Valley if I went. There are a few private sites up there. Don't know what they're like tho as I prefer the Provincial sites. BRV Guide Here

man… I’d tag-along if you wanted little kids and big dogs harassing you the whole time.

May still do anyway… you have me intrigued.

Lol.....No worries, no dog but 2 kids. One teen and one 9. Would love to but no time at the moment. I'd encourage you to still if you can. Days are short so leave early and set-up camp early if you were to go adventuring.

I really want to. But I have been informed that I must attend the pumpkin patch; swimming lessons etc.

Finally took the whole family out for a night in the “wilderness”. As a BC Park campground. Was good to set it all up, cook and then deal with the -2 overnight temp with a 3 and 2 year old.

the fun stopped there and we skiddadled before the forecast rain began.

At least you didn’t have to deal with the summer gong show that goes on there :)

Well done! Were you impressed with the RTT experience? Did it work well for having a young family? Can you see yourself over-landing in more remote areas in the future?

Funny you mention that... it was fully booked up and packed. We got to listen to an RV 'BLASTING" Star Wars directly behind us. Which meant our kids stayed up a way too much later. Alas... was still fun to get used to using a lot of new gear.

Yah the RTT is sooooo much better than a ground tent; not worrying about whether water will pool around you, or animals creeping (and yes, I know that bears can climb a ladder). The goal remains to find some actual wilderness spots. Even picked up a Propane Campfire Pit for the burn bans and overall easy of use.

The kids loved the tent... it's like a giant toy for them. The condensation build up was more than I expected after camping with a maximum of two people in the past. Definitely looking forward to where we can get out to in the future. For now though, the tent is aired out and stored for the Winter, so that I can park in the garage HAHA
