I got an inspection and rust-inhibiting spray notice for my 2016 at the beginning of January. I'm pretty glad that they're trying to be proactive.

Prince George where I purchased. They've been really decent to me especially throughout the 2 years I was preparing to purchase and test driving every vehicle I could.

hey gents, I have heard a lot about the frame campaign and from the TSB's I had seen they all seem to refer to US states. I have a 2017 TRD production was beginning-mid 2017. I have not received any notification for the inspection/ inhibiting spray. and when I asked the dealership they said they do not proceed with the process unless I have received a formal letter for Toyota. any input would help thanks.

On my way to and from Revy I noticed a lot of trucks, especially newer domestics have a lot of fender rust. Didn’t think BC used a lot of salt. But all the Tacomas I saw looked to be in better shape—maybe the plastic beds?

    Hi guys,

Finally an official member. Been dreaming of owning one of these for so long, it's almost surreal. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, she's just been sitting in the garage most of the time. Had an opportunity to get out for a short drive with the Mrs. this evening and snapped a few shots in front of one of my favourite stores out in the Fraser Valley ...

Thanks! Wasn’t all that hard, being Easter Sunday and all. The store was actually closed. I probably put on a good show though, for the small group of people who had their vehicles parked in a circle in the lot chit chatting while keeping their social distance. Lol.

I'm trying to help my dad buy a Tacoma and he lives in Vancouver. Do you guys have any tips for how to get the best deal/service? I read through the how to buy a Tacoma thread which had a lot of great tips. I was wondering hoping you guys could give more particular insight into buying in the Lower Mainland.

I’d suggest figuring out exactly what he’s looking for and then checking online with each of the area Toyota dealerships as to what they are showing in stock. When I bought mine, I checked from N. Van to the Fraser Valley, to White Rock. I even looked at Kelowna as an option. Once you figure out where the potential vehicles are, you’ll need to confirm if they actually have them in stock - I sent the question in through the chat option on the individual websites. Before you go in to talk numbers with anyone, figure out what the “dealer cost” on the vehicle is vs. MSRP. I used Unhaggle and Car Cost Canada (preferred Unhaggle though). Then you’ll need to figure out how much over the dealer cost, you’re willing to pay (kinda like the lotto saying goes... “know your limit, play within it”). It also helps to know what other Canadians have been paying recently for that model/configuration. Hate to say it, but you likely won’t get much help from here as all the discussion around pricing comes from the US. Ultimately, it’ll come down to what you are going to be happy paying, how quickly you want/need to buy, and the availability/popularity of the truck you’ve spec’d out. I live out in Abbotsford, but ended up buying in Langley. They actually sold the truck I was supposed to go see, a couple of days before I went in. Just as I was about to head out the door, the salesman said “we can bring one in from another dealer.” Although I was a bit skeptical and had a 20km max odo/mileage caveat on my purchase offer - as I didn’t want a test drive vehicle, I said “sure, why not.” Worse case, if they couldn’t find me a low kms 2020 quicksand TRD OffRoad DCSB at my negotiated price, I’d just walk away. At the time, quicksand Tacoma’s we’re getting low on inventory, but they managed to find one out of N. Van. Had the truck in hand a few days later, with no extra charges for having it trailered out to Langley.

A little long winded, but hope this helps...

I appreciate the thorough response; this is really helpful! Thank you!

I know he wants a Cement Off-Road V6 Automatic Double Cab Short Bed. I also think he wants the Tech Package but that seems to be a non-optional add-on in Canada (correct me if I'm wrong). Is Toyota.ca the best place to figure out what other options they offer?

Also, do you sign up to Unhaggle to use the extra features they offer? I hate signing up to places but really want to help my dad get the best price.

Cement Off Roads seem to be plentiful in BC. Most dealerships I’ve checked have at least two on the lot - I know, because it was my second choice colour wise. The only thing that might limit your search is the Premium package (that’s what they call the “tech package” up here). Not impossible, but most Off Roads will be the standard version. And yes, go to the Toyota site to see what they come with, but if you’re looking for that particular truck In Cement, it’ll either be a standard Off Road or one with the Premium package. No other versions - unless you add A bunch of dealership installed accessories.

I just signed up for the free Unhaggle account. That’s all you’ll need to get the dealership cost quote...

Good luck with the search! Your dad is a lucky guy...

Yeah he is but he definitely deserves it. He's never owned a new car and never spent money on himself, always the kids. I'm glad he's finally getting something for himself.

How can I tell if the tech package is included? I don't see it on his build but supposedly it's part of it. Here's the breakdown:

MSRP: $43,750 which includes Tonneau, tailgate lock, all weather mats, gas, one free service
    AC tax: $100
    Finance Charge: $295
    Doc Fees: $595
    Advance Disposal Fee: $25
    Freight: $1,840

    Total: $46,605

    Thoughts on the price?

Tonneau, tailgate lock, all weather mats...? That’s a lot if stuff thrown in. Price sounds low if that’s from a dealership. The base MSRP on the Off Road is $43,750. So if you’ve negotiated the price already with all of that stuff thrown in, it’s likely just the standard Off Road pkg plus the added accessories. If you’re looking for one with the Premium package, it’ll start around the $46,000 (MSRP) range without the add ons you’ve listed...

Sorry For the hijack guys. I know this is more of a “show’em” thread...

    Cheers.

Yeah, sorry for the hijack guys! I'll be sure to post a pic of the truck when it comes in to make up for it.

You're right that it's not the premium tech (no leather seats, sunroof, blind spot monitor, etc..). Is that a fair price? Invoice according to Unhaggle is $40,369.
