I was watching my favorite extreme off road show this morning, Truck U, gaining all sorts of motivation, and they were talking about building a Jeep to pick up chicks at the beach, and I got to thinking we pretty much have the same overall goal.

My fab guy got a ton of fab done yesterday, but nothing really pic worthy. I'm thinking he better have most of it complete by the end of the day. I picked up some hardware and materials to help finish. Krylon Semi Flat is the closest I've found to match factory frame paint.

Also, picked up some energy drinks. I had to hide them in the garage. Pops says beer is for tax payers.

Pops was on one today. I had to remind him he's lucky Trump won otherwise I'd be on his insurance till I'm 35

Everything is pretty much done. Just watching paint dry now. Tomorrow it should be ready for assembly. I'll throw these pics down now, and update later tonight with the rest.

Cross member is done and painted.

Rear DB is finished, it came out pretty sweet.

The Rear Drop Bracket came out really nice. I was able to tie it into the factory crossmember using (4) 1/2" bolts using a nut strip that I welded nuts to and then welded inside the crossmemeber.

Here is the nut strip. 3/16" Flat Bar and Grade 8, 1/2" nuts, fully welded. Above my hand you can see the holes drilled in the factory crossmember.

This is what the bottom looks like, I counter sunk the holes so that it's easier to line up the bolts.

It was then welded inside the crossmember in two places.

Here is the top side of the rear drop bracket. The holes on top tie into the nut strip. Top is plated with 3/16" x4", and the holes are drilled through 3/16" x 1 1/2" Angle Iron.

After that daunting task was complete, it was time to close up the cutout in the crossmember. After my first test fit with the diff, I realized that I could close up the hole a little more. I redesigned everything, this time using 3/16" and 1/4" plate.

Fit is really nice. I was going to be a total bro and not re test fit the diff, but it was so much work, I'd hate to fully weld it and then have it not fit. Diff fit perfect

Welding was ridiculous, I feel sorry for my welding Bro doing the work :welder:. There is no room to fit the welding helmet, torch, or see.

This should be pretty much a 100% repair to the frame, I don't see having to change anything if I ever remove the DB lift. There is like 40" of weld.

Now it was time to finish the bottom side of the rear DB. I wanted to plate it as well as add a mounting spot for a complete skid plate.

    3/16" x 4" plate and welded 1/2" Grade 8 nuts.

I forgot to mention that I re-tapped the threads after welding.

It was then welded to the bottom of the rear DB.

Really needs more light bars. if it were me, I would drop in a console vault for my mall Ninja glock 19 and some clazzio leather seat covers for the ladies. Oh and two w7 subs to piss off the bald heads.

Never seen anyone actually take the time to notch the frame rather than chop the whole piece out. Good work!

@Traction, me neither, and I searched. That is also the reason I went with Rough Country. Their brackets only drop the A-arms 3.5" and position the differential higher than BDS or RCD, and I didn't see needing to cut the whole crossmember out. The RC kit uses the same Drop Bracket and Knuckles in their 4" and 6" kits.

It is kind of a weird feeling welding on a frame when the factory welds haven't even cooled yet.

Toyota Santa Cruz has quite a few new 6" lifted Tundras in stock, and sure enough cut :sawzall: straight through the frame, I wonder if Toyota Corp has any issues with the dealers doing that o_O

Alright bros time to go get swollen:benchpress:

Looks like you are on your way to hanging out at the parking lot at the hook with your boards strapped to the roof having a monster.

image.jpg image.jpg Bro you should get some armor for that bad boy. I was out with my bros yesterday broing in a snowy parking lot and I did a massive snow drift into a light poll. Fucked my truck all up. I got home and my pops lost his shit on me. I told him if he didn't want me doing bro shit he shouldn't have bought me the trd off road 4x4. long story short buy some after market bumpers and sliders in case you get stuck on a curb or back into a light poll.
