    Operation ARB has begun.

Tires are off, so it's time now for my union mandated 1hr break.

Had this old coffin dodger at my first job out of college stop me in the middle of work and tell me:

"Gotta pace yourself, you don't want to work yourself out of a job."

So I dropped my shovel full of shit and we went and finished his bowl.

Thanks for all the support. The pulling the diff went pretty quick, even with naps in the middle. Roughly 20min worth of work to get to this point. Diff has been dropped of at Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara for the install. They do the absolute best work you're gunna find around.

I did some of the pre work to save a little time for the Installer, and maybe save a little $$.

Drilled a 1/4" hole in the Bearing Cap for the Copper Air Line. Came out pretty clean.

Then drilled a 7/16" hole in the top of the diff, and tapped it to 1/4NPT for the airline fitting, then snugged down the fitting with some thread sealant.

I also installed the 4" longer Brake Lines from Wheelers. Not really sure how to secure the passenger side line, they didn't come with any instructions or extra clips o_O Might have to do a quick search. Also, I stripped the brake line fittings, they were way to fawking tight, I was even using a 10mm hard line fitting wrench. I had to use visegrips to finally free them.

Yeah, I should of done the front also, I don't have a lot of experience with the 8" Clam Shell. I hear some say they are unbreakable, and some say don't waste the money. 35's or 37's might be pushing it. I've had lots of buddies beat the shit out of 85' axles with 38.5" Super Swampers, and never break a ring and pinion.

We'll see how it wheels with 1 locker. I already had the front regeared when I installed the lift. The rear is finally catching up. 4.88's and ARB :bananadance:

Yeah was talking to someone the other day about the 8" clamshell. He runs a 1st gen tundra which had the smaller diff and runs 35s with it. I think he moved up to the 8" in anticipation of moving to 37s and says they're rock solid and will push even more. Very knowledgeable toyota guy.

This things gonna be cookin with gas when you get those on there...

    Asking for a bro.

I'd be more worried about the cv axle? I'm new to Tacoma and IFS.

I have an '85 and I'd think the burfield (or longfield) would go way before I think the r&p'd go, maybe?

(I've blown a longfield but never the r&p. I was running 37" with a high pinion though)

I was hoping that you didn't bother locking the front because the BroComa was going solid front axle.

Just to make the haters shit, I've been planning +3.5 Long Travel, 4340 CV Shafts, 10" Travel Fox's, and 37's with the 3.5" Drop Brackets.

I have a solid axle crawler, so I figured I'd try something new.

One of these days once baldy ups the limit on my Amex.

First off who uses a line wrench. You are supposed to start with visegrips!

Second I got those same lines. But I had to get red.

Third read end special-somethings. Do they take full vehicles and do gears? Or just parts like you are doing. I'm feeling really lazy and don't want to take it apart first.

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking, proper tools are for hipsters and old people. I was going to go red, but it didn't match the brocelona.

Rearend specialties will take the whole thing. It might be pricey. Lot a labor pulling the front diff.

Alright we're ready for install. Just picked up the rearend. New set of Nitro 4.88's and ARB. Side note, they were not impressed that I pre-drilled the holes. Rearend Specalties does ARB's all the time, and they hate ARB's instructions. They had 6 other ARBs waiting inline behind mine, so I trust them.

Gears went in smooth and setup easy. Nice pattern and 8 thou backlash.

Got the Friday Night Special ready, Costco Light Beer, Fruity Punch and Tire Shine FTMFW:bananadance:

I've also been ordering all the parts and pieces for the wiring, and they have been slowly showing up. All I need to do is find a hipster that can solder so I can bully him into wiring my junk up. But if I have to listen to Vampire Weekend for another minute, I might have to draw the line.
