Girlfriend worked some magic on the really rusty spots where the brackets were. It was so bad it got into the paint. But some elbow grease and Goo off cleaned it up well enough for us.

New locking mechanism and brackets for the rear glass was ordered from Leer yesterday. None of it was salvageable, too far gone. Also ordered new weather stripping and shocks for the rear glass. Going to look almost new once finished.

Off to JonBondPerformance to get a full rebuild! Was going to do it myself but with the rotor pack coating on its way out I was unable to find any shops that would just do the coating and rebuild the rotorpack, so biting the bullet and having them do it all for me. All future interval rebuilds will be done by me.
    :spending:

Might spend the extra bucks to get a full repaint while it's there.

Found a used Set if KC HiLites off FB Marketplace for $100. Gonna clean these up and throw them on the truck once I get a proper roofrack/bumper combo. Would look a bit funny if they went on now.

Finally finished up the camper shell. Still needs some minor adjustments as only one side is latching shut, but will get that fixed eventually. The new SS hardware and bracketry came out pretty well IMO. New weather stripping everywhere so it should be nice and sealed.

Got the front half of the lift in. Had a detour over the weekend with a last second trip up to Dallas... found a killer deal on some SCS SR8 wheels for a set of 5. Made a trip out of it and ended up hitting the state fair on the way out.
    :spending:

State fair ain't cheap! Oh well. Still debating how big I want to go on the tires. Not sure if I should chop it up to fit 33's..

Fantastic work, I especially appreciate the fact you sandblasted the shell hardware and did a PC.

Can you delve into the rotor packs going out? What signs did they show of failure

Hey thanks! Sure I'll share my initial experience.

Not necessarily failure of the rotor packs themselves, but failure of the heat resistant coating that came on them from TRD. A known issue for this to start chipping off so once I pulled the rotor pack out and saw this I figured I would leave this to the professionals and sent mine off to have a full rebuild by JonBond Performance.

You can see it in these pictures where it looks darker. Thankfully I pulled this SC off a donor and none of the coating flaked Into my engine. Every rebuilder I've talked to said their coating is supposed to last much longer, but we'll see if that is actually true come next rebuild.

I’ve been told the Teflon coating will come off with methanol injection. I ran methanol in my truck for about two years, when I pull the supercharger off I’ll see if the coating is still there. It was already flaking when I got mine.

What did your rebuild service include? I’d like to have mine powder coated, I did paint on it originally which looks good. But PC holds up better.

Crap I didn't know that about methanol injection. Was planning on running that as well. Looks like we will be in the same boat.

Here's a breakdown of what I was quoted. Will be just over $1600 for everything. A lot more than I originally was planning on spending for the rebuild, but figured with the coating going out I would leave this round of the rebuild up to the professionals then handle all futures at home. Also opted to get it repainted which brought the price up about ~$350

OI, that’s some money haha. Thank you for letting me know about the cost. What was the turnaround?

No kidding. About had a heart attack when I was told. Originally was only planning on spending ~$200 for a kit on ebay an doing it here at the house. Oh well Lol.

I sent the SC out probably 3 weeks ago and haven't really heard much back about it. I'm guessing sometime November/Early December I'll be getting it back. Let me try and give then a call tomorrow and see if I can get a better timeline.

Good to know, thank you. I need to see if they’ll rebuild four cylinder superchargers, I think I have the same Eaton rotors as you.

Gave JonBondPerformance a call and I was told I'll have it back within a week or two. So about 1.5 months lead time. Really not bad compared to some of the horror stories I've heard about other shops!

That’s very good lead time. Once you get it back let me know how you like their work and I’ll use them for mine.

The Supercharger finally arrived back home after about 2 months gone. Looking brand new! JonBondPerformance did a kick ass job with the powdercoating and full rebuild.

Nice! I’m sold. I’ll send mine off to them. That’s black powdercoat right? Not paint?

Awesome! If you can handle the wait time it's 100% worth it for the final product.

Yeah they used powdercoat. It was only ~$350 more and to make it look almost new I think the cost was justified.

Never did post an update with the lift on. Here she is with a couple new parts. Went to get an alignment and the tie rods were shot, as well as one of the tires was showing chord. So took it back home, threw on some Moog Greasable inner and outters for each side as well as bought 2 cheapo tires, and sent it back in. Will run these tires a bit before upgrading to the SR8's.

    Drives straight as an arrow.

Roommates had the garage locked up for over a month now. Trying to find small projects here and there I can get done while he finishes up. Made this ScanGauge mount at work in the meantime. Made from 1/8" Al that was laying around.

But now for some reason the scan gauge doesn't want to work and causes my ABS light to flash. Seems to be a somewhat common problem on others cars. Going to try and replace the OBD II fuse and see if that gets me anywhere.
