Well, I might put this one up for sale if anyone wants to make an offer lol.
Don't have much more than a socket set and was unemployed almost all of the past year.
Working everyday now and making decent money but lots of debt. Still owe 6k on the truck too.

Any way I can get insurance involved in this?

Yes. I've learned a lot from these forums. Hopefully this will serve as a lesson for another!

I'm guessing that depends on your coverage, my brother's an adjuster for Geico I can ask him later tonight what he thinks. Can't hurt to try, worst they'll say is no. And maybe a mysterious increase in your bill next month lol

Your situation could be different, but most the time they will only cover non collision stuff if it’s like something fell off someone’s car, you ran it over, and the damage was caused from that. They don’t usually cover mechanical problems, which essentially is what this is.

    Sorry for your circumstances
Had a legit accident that did similar damage to driveshaft.
Insurance did not cover what they called Torque damage.

Yeah I mean... I'd think since I'm buying the same size tires it wouldn't be an issue.

That was a J10 QuadraTrack Jeep pickup with matching tires. Front propeller shaft unwound taking out transmission.

Honestly, you might be able to replace the transmission, leave out the front drive shaft, patch up the front, and call it a 2wd.

I spoke too soon, he got back to me with this

"That would fall under "Mechanical Breakdown" which he would had to have selected as an extra coverage. Typical collision and comprehensive coverage wouldn't cover something like this unless there's evidence that an actual impact caused it which it doesn't sound like it. And even if they do cover it I would very much expect it to total.

And if it does total ask him if he has any endorsements on his truck and to remind the insurance of the a/m items (air intake, supercharger, upgraded suspension, etc) on it for added value. If he took out endorsements then they basically would pay out on the additional items at value but if he didn't take out any endorsements then they would only pay out the value of the base model."

Maybe there is a local 4wd club who will help you install parts to replace everything broken for the cost of pizzas and beers assuming you have replacements available

I will look. I am new to the area. Thanks for the input, I seem to always have money for beer. Or maybe I'm just good at budgeting for what's actually important..

Speaking from experience there have been plenty of local TW members happy to help me for the cost of beer and I try to return the favor when I can.

When it comes to making major repairs on your own vehicle the idea of being a self made man seems silly when people are willing to lend their time, tools, and expertise. I've spent plenty of time suffering through projects on my own to admit that there's no shame in asking for help.

You may be able to just get a new bell housing to fix the trans and then an output shaft and new seal.
I would of course verify the cause so it doesn't happen again.

How does a failed trans output shaft lead to shearing the pinion in the front diff? Or am I looking at those pics wrong..?
