I’m amazed the ring gear isn’t in worse shape than it is..

Isn’t the maximum speed in 4WDHi is 55 mph? How fast were you going?

To engage. Going any speed on dry pavement for a prolonged time will do damage

You can go as fast your heart desires in 4hi, but like Dan said above me the speed limit to engage it is 55mph. Once it's in 4hi there's no speed limit

Pretty sure we found the culprit a while back.

Alrighty everyone! We are back in business...
Truck has started and it drives good!
Now I need to get some more bushings and ball joints replaced in front end to get her aligned but I had a question...
I was testing the Transfer Case and I think I remember that when it was in Neutral (N) there would be no power delivered to the wheels..
I am able to drive with the transfer case in Neutral though...
Also, in 4LO, the truck won't "roll", it will move when I give it gas and its in gear but as soon as the gas is off, the truck slows down to a halt, as if I were pulling something.

    As per the manual:
""N" (neutral position): Lever at N" No power is delivered to the wheels. The vehicle must be stopped"

    Thoughts?

I am very happy that she started and seems to be driving pretty good! (Besides an off-center steering wheel )

You have a manual trans right? So you can't get the truck to move forward in 4lo unless you give it gas? I can get mine moving in 4lo by just letting off the clutch (no gas) in 1st gear. The gearing is so low it easily pulls itself along without any throttle input.

Also since the gearing is so low, it will slow itself down fast too when you let off throttle, so that part sounds normal.

I can't say I've ever played around with the t-case in neutral
