I lost count at how many reported CPS failures left people stranded that were reported on the forum. I know the number was over 15 and I recall there were 2 failures in one day. I think weather and heat may play a factor as most of those failures came during the late summer months.

Did these come in after the engine died? I would think that is the reason you got those messages. In the old days, you would have gotten the oil light after the engine died but the system was still turned on. High auto trans fluid, may have just been the fluid dumping and not having a chance to drain back during the event..... I'm guessing those messages were a result of the failure and not the cause.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. This is my first experience with this particular service dept and so far so good. They still have yet to look at the truck

Does that mean you will be driving the managers vehicle, if not it doesn't freaking matter, you should have a vehicle end of story!

Haha, funny. Apparently it has to get approve. Also, the sa asked me several times about the fact that I haven't used any of my Toyota care services and that I should have records of oil changes and such. I like to do my own oil changes because, frankly, I don't like anyone touching my vehicle but me. What records do they want? Walmart receipts from the oil I bought?

I can get receipts from my credit card if necessary as well. It's just sort of funny, just because I have a receipt saying I bought oil doesn't mean I changed it

yep, if you show them the record of purchase, thats enough. I guess you could create an oil change blog or you tube channel and share with them. And I would be pissed that I didn't already have a vehicle to drive.

if you know me, then pissed is what people would be doing to me to cool me down. My wife probably would have not let me in the house last night if this happened to me.

I have been know to get shit taken care of by a few companies. I work to hard for my money and am too cheap to let it go easy.

Let me start by saying, ALWAYS do what it takes to protect your warranty first, IF you care about the warranty.

Now, until they diagnose the problem and they prove it's an oil related issue (they won't) they don't need to be hounding you.

I still say it's a CPS, and the transmission needs attention with a check and TSB reflash. NEITHER of those would have been part of any Toyota Care service interval.

But some background for likely why he's asking............ there is a legit issue from their side.

In the late 90s there were serious sludging issues with some Toyota motors, like Camry 4 bangers. I almost never happened in properly serviced units, almost always in neglected units.

Many warranty engine claims were made by folks who 'changed my own oil', and a simple lab test proved they didn't. Doesn't matter what receipts or person log books say. What's to prevent making up books after the fact?

So, he has a right to be concerned. IF it's an oil related issue, which it won't be.
