Welp, I #@#$ed up and backed into a tree with a 4x8 hanging off the tailgate this morning.. Cracked the front of the bed and dented the cab.

What am I looking at to fix this? Am I gonna need a new bed eventually? Any temporary fix? Never done fiberglass repairs before. Is the dent by the window something to be concerned about?

Super devastated, just got my taco last month..

Probably cheaper to get a used bed from a junk yard. ChAnging out a bed is not too bad. Just need a couple of buddies to help you.

Wow. Thats the first one i've seen broken. Impressive! Honestly, though, they are really easy to remove. Surprisingly easy actually.

! I would be more concern with the cab dent than the bed. The cab wall looks to be caved in from the side pic. I would file with insurance to fix it all.

Definitely not the answer I wanted to hear, but I think you're right.. From a quick glance behind the rear seats, I see a broken weld.. Sigh.

Better to just have it all repaired and done right. Accidents happen, lucky it didn't involve another vehicle.

Is the rear window separated from the cab? Make sure you cover it up if forecast shows rain coming tonight. You don’t want to deal with water inside on top of all this. The bed is probably the least of your problems. Super easy fix as everyone has said. I’ve taken my off, very easy with some help.

It seems to be fitted in there just fine. I am concerned about that corner where the dent is.

Glad you’re okay. We have seen the truck, hows the tree doing? Call the insurance company and get it fixed that’s about it. I hope you post the itemized invoice cause I wonder how much a new bed is.

Holy Crap! I’ll bet that’s at least $3K to fix. Turn it in on your insurance and risk higher premiums or put a bed on it and drive it.

That stinks man. I am sorry that happened.
If you have full coverage and I were you, I would turn it in. We all make mistakes. I destroyed a tailgate once by not physically making sure the ball was a 2 and 5/16th instead of a 2. I always check now.
