That looks exactly like mine… just picked up a new one from the dealer after I gave them my broken one for warranty replacement. Chain bound up and wouldn’t go up or down so something’s going to give and they designed that as the mechanical fuse.

If you are stuck in chain lift purgatory a 3/8”+ wooden dowel and a surprising number of good smacks with a hammer got my lift freed up to be able to drive around. Also use it to close up the sides of that split clam shell the head engages, guarantee those flared out.

In case it’s not clear I mean poke the dowel through the tire to rotate the lift.

The spare tire in my '96 Tacoma 4x4 hasn't been touched in 25 years and 414,000 miles. Hope I never need it, obviously haven't so far.

Letting some air out might give you some play. I’d think that you could use anyone’s scissor Jack handle to get it down in the meantime

My problem is that my tire is all the way up there and it's all nice and snug. I'm trying to get it down, so I don't know if a 3/8 in wooden dowel and a lot of hammering is going to do much.

Now the hard part, finding the valve stem. On the other hand, I had a scissors jack handle, way too short, doesn't fit.

This is one of those things a dealer might just give you. Kinda like they fix seatbelts for free. Worth asking.
PS stop beating up Ridgeline drivers with your crowbars.

Your main problem is to free up the lift to start rotating, then you have a fighting chance with other random things to turn it if you cannot wait for a replacement. Just know you’re committed once loose.

That would be awesome, although I do have to go pick up my girl at 6:00 that day, hopefully it doesn't take too too long. I do get out of work at 4:00.

Dude if you want, I can overnight you my spare tire tool. would have to go out tomorrow, i could do saturday deliver. work gets a deal with shipping through FedEx. I don't really need it since I have a HC bumper with a spare tire carrier. my spare goes on there.

My truck's a 2nd gen, but I have to imagine they work the same and would work interchangeably.

That would be awesome, but overnighting would be one hell of a price. I'm working out something with John right now, hoping to figure out a way to not destroy everyone's tools, minus that half inch impact one, lol.
Hmm, might be worth looking in to, so I don't break people's tools...

meh it's a flat fee for us through my work up until i start shipping bigger things over 2' in some dimension or other, so no trouble to me. same cost to us as overnighting a check. lemme know if you need it though, i don't mind. don't think i'll ever use it again tbh.

we've used it for much more squanderous things so don't think you're putting me out too much lol

Whatever you rig for a tool… penetrating spray now, so it can soak.
