    Next question:

If someone was to do this, would it put you in to a state of duress? Just wondering.

Nope. Not my business, not my problem. I’d tell them my opinion on it and then grab a beer.

Anyone who installs a mod and knows that said mod caused a failure and then proceeds to file a warranty claim has a character flaw.
It’s not holier than thou attitude, it’s deliberately committing fraud.
I’m pretty sure that if he has the truck towed to a dealership as is, they’ll deny a claim citing suspension mod install.
That’s almost like committing a hit and run and driving away because that’s why the owner has the insurance for right?

    :notsure:

Fwiw, I dont think it’s the spacer kit that caused the failure, imo something went wrong during the install and that subsequently did cause it

The Joe23 method of right and wrong:

If everyone else is doing it then it’s ok.
As long as you have deep pockets it is ok to steal from you.
As long as you don’t get caught it is ok.
I am not going to bother quoting each and every word to ensure I get it bang on but you get the message.

    Joe,
Your messages started off a little shakey but have went downhill. Some of us actually do care about the law and do our best to adhere to it. I personally don’t like being lumped into your assertions that most of us in this thread would commit fraud if facing large repair bills of our own doing.

I don’t care if you steal a penny or a million. Taking cash or taking a free repair fraudulently on warrantee. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Rich, poor, homeless or living in a mansion the law applies to all of us equally. You can’t steal from the rich whether they are a big corporation or not. Theft or fraud isn’t determined by the size of the pocket you are stealing from.

If your moral compass allows you to bend the law to your own viewpoint that is on you. But don’t assume the rest of us are of same shady moral character as yourself.

It’s the small things that matter sometimes. If you were grocery shopping and busted an egg in the carton by being clumsy while putting it in your cart would you swap the carton out for a new one? I did that this afternoon and came home one egg short.

Suprised nobody suggested taking the bed off and selling it, and then leaving the rest of it unlocked in the forest on a dirt road somewhere...:burp:

I like that. I appreciate that hardline attitude. I happen to be morally flexible, it’s kinda how real shit gets done. But I do like it.

If you read all of it you'd realize I said I wouldn't waste time with the dealer I would just pay to have it don't properly and bring back to the shop that fucked up. I wouldn't be in the position to do this nor care to.

My point was you're all lecturing on it acting as if you're holier than thou and have never once done anything wrong.

Your very point was it was a slippery slope that once you venture down can get taken too far but are you suddenly perfect and have never once done anything that was illegal? As I put it with your idea that it can all lead somewhere else and what not. So are you saying you've never went over the speed limit? Not once never pushed it? Never did 120km on the highway? Or 110km?
Where do you draw the line there of whether it's speeding or not? 5km? 10km?

Look at what I was originally replying to
I was replying to him asking how someone could think Toyota is responsible because someone suggested the whole remove and bring to dealer bit. Not once did I actually say to do it just that could be the logic the guy that posted that suggestion has.

Don't try to pretend to be perfect when no one is. We both agree it's fraud and shouldn't be done, but as others have said the dealers could suggest it or others do it on their own, regardless who are we to judge? We all do shit wrong and turn a blind eye in different parts. There's too much shit wrong in the world to focus on every part.

Do I care if someone in the US frauds a dealer? No I'm in a different country and there's much bigger more important shit for me to be concerned with than someone having a fraudulent warranty claim.
I'm more concerned with the fact this has been one of the most violent years in the city I live in and there's been gang shootings happening real close to home and the cops and politicians do fuck all to combat the illegal guns in Toronto and care more about going after legal gun owners.

And for you being a Canadian you know our laws are different than the US. So that's shit I'm more concerned about that's a legal matter, compared to someone possibly committing fraud on warranty work. And it's something I think is of higher moral concern, you know murder? Than Joe blow committing fraud over a few $1000s of repair costs
