WOW! As mentioned, the lower spring pocket sheared off the shock. It's now sitting on the bumpstop and the spring is not doing anything. As a trail fix, you could jack up the the truck by the frame and stick a 2X4 between the frame and the bump stop. The half shaft is rubbing the spring. That's not good, but do what you have to to get it out to the road.

Good news @Painkiller7 is the damage looks minimal, and the fix is a new front coilover which only takes 4 bolts and a jack to fix.

Another spacer lift failure. Sorry to see this happen to your truck.

Bilstein 5100's are $325 a set on Amazon. Plus $89 for the alignment.

I'd also be replacing both sides while you're at the repair.

^ yep. Your alignment will be off. New top hat bushings would also help prevent squeaks down the road. You'll have to loosen your lower camber adjustement bolts, and remove your skid plate, sway bar in order to disconnect the lower ball joint and rotate the LCA down. Then your strut comes right out.

It's a 30minute job each side if you include the time it takes to relaign your cams, install the bolts, skid plate and sway bar. A torque wrench and paint marker is a must have for this job so you can mark your cam positions, and torque your LCA to where it needs to be.

A top hat spacer lift has absolutely nothing to do with a lower spring perch rusting out

I'll agree with you, the extra forces exerted on the coilover due to the spacer could have caused it to fail earlier than without one but it was gonna go either way. This just meant it gave out on a gravel road and not potentially next week on the freeway or something.

I tend to agree with this. Although spacer lifts are bad, the worst failure can happen because the shock bottoms out before the control arm hits the bump stop. So, when the shock bottoms out, the suspension becomes solid. The extra pressure on the spring is only minutely more because the shock travels further. The spring does not know that the shock bottomed out and put stress on the shock and shock mounting points. Rust is the root cause of this failure. With that said, the alignment cams are surely rusted too. This is not going to be a 30 minute pop in a shock and go down the road. It's going to be fix this, fix that, fix a bunch of other things, might as well fix this while you're in there.

I thought the "30 minute" fix was relative to the trail fix. It would be cheaper to shove a used coil over in there than hire a flat bed wrecker to get it home anyway. Ultimately the repair properly will be more involved but just to get it home the damage looks manageable.

Spacer lift. They damage your suspension.

There are no extra forces. The coil is still supporting the same weight.

Isn't this more of a rust issue than a spacer issue?

I thought the problem is spacers can cause the coil to bind unless you also add a spacer to the bump stop.
