That’s one of those 1st gens the older fellas on the forum like so much:

“None of that gosh-darn ‘new fangled tech’.......just a gutless motor, a cramped cab, and a rusty frame.......that’s how how we like ‘em”

A fella could spend all night posting these......by the hundreds. Us 3G owners have our complaints, but these 1G owners....they have real problems.

Interesting that it’s almost always the access cabs. Maybe they were just more popular back then, or maybe the put more stress on the area that corrodes.

that man is pretty damn good. We leave the engines up in the truck with a special engine support and support the trans with a beefy ratchet strap. get frames done in 2 days.

Just wait, 2nd gens had frame recalls, and now the 16s and 17s are having them too. Its a design issue, 3rd gens are not immune to the Toyota frame rot despite seatbelt mike's claims.

12-17 are getting the welds coated. thats the main issue. from what ive seen coming in the dealer the newer trucks do indeed hold up better than the old ones. And all the frame swaps our dealer has done most of the trucks are running around with frames holding up well too (other than the few that have been totalled)

the new recall is not a fun one, and im glad im not the one stuck doing it at our dealer.

Makes sense, I noticed on the welds on my 17, didnt pay too much attention to my 19 when I FF earlier this year.
