Went to car wash, asked "Is my antenna OK or will it break?". Answer: "As long as it's tight, it's fine.". We know what happened next = antenna broken. The threads were broken off in the base, I tried 10 different ways to get it out, finally drilled, and now it's all fuxored. I was able to use a tap and put some threads in for a new antenna (OEM style replacement) which is in there now but reception sucks and it isn't too pretty up close since I had to tap it off center.

This is why I never go to car washes but I was up in NJ during and after the snow storm and had to get the salt off. FML.

So the question is, how do i get the base off to replace it? What parts do I need?

    Thanks in advance.

Did you try sawing the tip off an allen wrench then supergluing the handle end to the stub and then backing it off with a drill REAL slow? Will also work with any suitable, hex-shaped shank.

That thing was in there too tight for that, unfortunately. I cut a slot in to use a screwdriver and even that wouldn't work. I'm beyond that point now anyway as it's already been drilled.
