Just hit this whole trail up yesterday. Fun little ride! I'll post a couple pics I grabbed going around Mushroom Rock, but we checked out every part of the trail and had no issues whatsoever. Great day to be out riding!

No lockers necessary. Not even one slip of the tire.

    BUILT, not bought...

I dont have trouble anythwere, except going UP (down is the direction the jeeps take when doing bunker hill).

I cant up bunker hill. Ive tried 6 times. I make the first foot a nd hallf and then I spin and wiggle.

so, the question is did you go UP...or down?

I am a bit confused about the entire trailset though. I never found Devil's Staircase and I don't recognize anything that looks like Bunker Hill. What did I miss? I saw Mushroom Rock, Chicken Point, and Submarine Rock but where didn't I go?

After further review, it seems I missed the left turn to go to Devil's Staircase. Damn, now I have to go back.

    Quick stupid Noob question -

I just bought a 2012 Taco Doublecab short bed TRD 4x4 with hitch (which I know will drag)and was wondering what modifications would be required to do the trails in Sedona. I have rented a Rubicon (3" lift, under armor and 35"KM2's aired down)before which is why I went with the TRD package to get the rear diff lock and ATAC etc..
I know I need to get sliders ASAP
The second mod I was thinking was all-pro high clearance rear bumper (is this necessary?)
Is the stock TRD armor worth anything?
I want to do a lift Bilsten 2-3" with UCA's to fit some 33" KM2's but can't afford to do everything at once.
Thanks Chris - If I should create a new thread I will but specifically I would like to do Broken Arrow as it was a blast.

To do those trails I don't think your truck would need anything more. Im pretty sure you could do it stock. I did them all in a stock Jeep, and you have a rear locker so the only thing I could see would be ground clearance and I still think you would be ok. You MIGHT drag your rear bumper in some places, but with the right lines I think you would be just fine.

You can do it without locker, too, but I recommend the lift to get over some fo the spots that would probably drag on the undercarriage or catch on the bumpers. If you do these trails just right, you might be ok but I'm not one to risk it. I was happy to have clearance bumpers, lift and good tires when I went, and I never even needed the sliders or skids.

Personally, if you're going to wheel upgrade the under armor first just in case. That said Broken Arrow you should be able to do just fine with good lines. Mini-Moab I'd probably stay off of (optional area to play around in) as you'll scrape bumpers on most of the little play sections. I've done Chiva Falls with my front bumper and IFS allpro skid... banged it around but again careful lines and you're fine.. and Chiva is a lot "worse" than Broken Arrow so yea...

I ran it stock in a reg cab and extended cab. Stay on the main trail and dont do the optional stuff and you wont touch anything but the rubber on your tires. However this was years ago and I'm sure the Pink jeeps have warn this trail in some since then :)

Maybe we should plan a run up there next weekend or something?

Thanks for all the great replies and help, there are so many threads to go though and I would like to do everything but $$$ doesn't let that happen.

Also I should say I have not wheeled before the jeep rental so my line experience and spotting is questionable at best.

Consensus is definitely back bumper, and it sounds like front bumper also?
If I did the under armor - which plates are recommended? it looks like to get the extra clearance you have to reroute one of the exhaust pipes that hangs down.

    So get bumpers and
    then armor, hijack lift
    Then suspension lift
Is a front winch necessary in AZ? or would a Hi-jack and some of those orange sand trap boards be enough to get out of most situations?
and finally 30.5 to 33" tall tires on my stock rims because I'll be broke...
    get
    Thanks
    Chris

Your going nuts here - I'm telling you, your truck STOCK would be fine for someone with experience. However with a 2 - 3 inch lift you would fine.

No need to spend thousands just to do these trails. They are not THAT hard.

For Broken Arrow you'd be fine stock... probably most trails in Sedona but I haven't personally ran all of htem.

Also as for build order... personally this is how I would go:
    - Under armor (Front skid, transmission, transfer case)
    - Sliders (at this point a hi-lift would actually be useful in recovery, pretty useless stock)
    - Suspension lift + Tires (Personally I'm running 33's and I think they're just fine as is... you do need to do the body mount chop)
    - Bumpers

Winch... pretty much only useful up north for self recovery... but it's a great recovery tool otherwise to use on other vehicles.

Exhaust re-routing is not necessary.... AllPro has a transmission skid that works with the stock setup.... however it does create a catch point to get caught on. I run it myself... haven't had any issues with it.

Also.. this is the "worst" section of Broken Arrow... you'll be fine.

Thanks, I'm just paranoid of breaking something and be stuck like chuck.. when I 've mountain biked over the years I always care chain tools and extra links because I hate walking out!

You'd be surprised where a stock TRD Off-Road can go :)
