    Hey y'all,
New to this sub but let’s get to it. As I was driving my truck I noticed the a/c was not blowing cold air but just air. Then I see a belt hanging from the truck. The area is shown on the pic. If anyone knows what it is for and how easily fixed it is I’d appreciate it greatly! IMG_2090.jpg

That's your AC compressor belt. If it's just the belt, take it as a warning sign that the rest are on their way out and it's about time for a belt job (unless it was overtensioned, or hydraulic fluid/oil is leaking onto it) - they're usually all replaced at once.

Otherwise, it might have snapped because the compressor is seized/locking up. Easy test for this is to grab the pulley in the left of the photo and try to rotate it by hand. It should spin with some effort. I doubt it because you didn't mention any squealing in the lead up, but I suppose it is possible.

While you're in there, check the idler pulley - they're wear items and if it feels rough when you spin it, replace it with the belt.

I spun both of them freely. Is the other one the idler pulley??

nice!! I would replace all the belts, I don’t have a S/C so I’ll let someone who has one chime in on that.

Yes. It's the one that has the tension adjuster below it and to the right.

And if your timing belt is anywhere near needing replacement, I'd really consider including it on the list.
