I guess it depends on what our idea of "not much more" is. It cost me 1000.00 (2600 total) more to go with a 2.5" King on my truck already tuned. Now if I don't like the tuning I can change it, if it leaks I can fix it. It takes me longer to get the shock off the vehicle than rebuilding it.

I would agree that the 6112 performs better than any other 2.0 emulsion shock. The 6112 can be rebuilt, but with the cost it's just better to buy a new one.

The 6112's are 2.5's. If you are getting remote reservoirs for 1k more than thats a decent deal. If you are just trading it for another 2.5 non remote, then its not a good deal. All of these shocks have already been "tuned" for their intended application. If you dont like it get it tuned again.

I also suspect this was caused by the shock reaching full compression before the bump stop limited up travel.

I doubt limit straps would have prevented this or are required with OEM replacement shocks.

That amount of corrosion is par for the course in any wet and cold state. It’s not nearly enough to cause a failure like that. In general structural steel parts take decades to fail due to corrosion.

There is little or no reason to combine preload adjustable shocks with a top hat spacer. You adjust ride height using the preload adjustment.
