Hey those guys know me as soon as I walk in. Awesome bunch. Even helped me remove my stuck wheel locks on a new car I picked up.

But anyways, this guy is the reason we have warning labels on everything.

Bunch of internet warriors. Let Toyota decide if its warranty work for all you warriors know there was a problem with OP's truck before he hit the pothole. But I am so glad that in usual fashion you assholes will all get on you imaginary high road and bash this guy with out having any factual knowledge as to what is wrong with the truck. Did the pothole break a good part or a faulty part? Who knows.

    Unsubbed.

This, from a member who tried to get his insurance company to cover a collision with comprehensive to avoid the deductible.

I posted from the valley. Internet reception from the high road sucks.

I also speak from experience. When I was young, I drove my Olds Delta 88 into 3 parked cars cuz I was a idiot and wasn't paying attention. In this scenario I accepted my mistake and paid up like a good boy. I suppose I could have blamed the owners of those cars for being in my way or the owners of the development for putting in a curve where I clearly wanted to go straight which obviously fit my own personal needs much better than the reality of the given situation. Later in life yet long ago, I was forced into the pit wall in a perfectly good race car by a idiot who couldn't cop to his poor judgment nor lack of skillset and ended up tearing the entire right side off a borrowed machine while mine was being finished. In this case the concrete ruined some perfectly good parts as well as some questionable bits provided by the manufacturer yet I never asked for a warranty. I had put myself in this position by passing this moron so once again I accepted my responsibility and paid the man for parts and rebuilt his car for him. I'm no better that the next guy, just honest and respectful within my own moral code.

By the way, I can clearly see the high road from my house in the valley. Hope this helps.

Not long before it all went terribly wrong.

I really feel for the service manager who has to hear his "warranty" issue at the dealership tomorrow

To the OP. Think of it this way. If you had wrecked your tire or damaged a rim hitting the pothole, would you have expected it to be a warranty issue? It is no different. The damage was caused by driving conditions, not by the integrity of the truck. If there was an oil slick on the road, and you hit a pole, would you expect Toyota to pay for the damage?

Seriously. This is an insurance issue at best (if it is above the comp deductible), but don't make the trucks and dealer experience more expensive and difficult for the rest of us. It's not just a bad moral choice, but if you lie about the cause, it is actual fraud. Where has integrity gone?

Reminds me of my summer in Newfoundland. A pothole or bump sign meant slow the hell down! They don't kid around.
