Howdy folks, I'm in a bit of a pickle here because the lower leaf of my leaf pack has busted and is rubbing up against the brake line thing thats right by the leaf pack. The stealership said they'd order me one for a small $950.00, I said c ya later bye! And now I'm on the hunt via internet. Found some on this site for $150

    Legit?

How long can I drive on this busted leaf?

Don't know the legitimacy of those springs, but I would be scared to drive on a busted spring, especially if its rubbing a brake line

Check the Buy/Sell/Trade section, you have a few guys selling low mileage leaf springs on there.

Blacked out badges, wheels, tool box, grill, and BHLM. 2in lift with stock tires. So many projects left to do....
When I got my 09 used, I didnt realize that the passenger side leaf was newer(had been replaced) than the drivers side. When I leveled the front out was when I noticed that the driver side was sagging about 1/2in lower than the passenger side. I got a leaf spring from general spring for around $180 shipped. The company shipped it first thing the next morning and I had it at my door 4 days later. It fixed the lean and drives good. No complaints here what so ever. Good luck...

Thanks for the help guys. I got under the truck last night and I have no idea how this could have happened.....

The middle leaf broke right in the center, slipped out, around and under the bottom leaf thing and wedged under my brakeline and the bottom leaf. I did a lot of prying with a prybar and it would not move. Just seems odd how the broken leaf could have traveled so much?

I emailed the CL add asking if he would split up the suspension parts and haven't gotten a reply.

How hard is the install? I'm pretty handy with a wrench and know my way around a shop. However I just relocated and do not have much for tools lying around.

Why don't you just go to a local spring shop? they will replace the broken leaf for under a couple of hundred or go to www.springsnthings.com and order a leaf and center bolt.

Hand tools, floor jack, jackstand, hacksaw and maybe a torch to save time.

I have changed many, many leaves.

Its pretty easy with basic tools. You will need to jack the rear end up, throw some jack stands on both sides, then support the axle with a floor jack and lower it down. Did you get my PM? I have a set of stock leaf springs that really don't have any value to me. If you can get down here to grab them they are yours.

If you wanna drive up to Portland, Maine, I might know a guy with a garage and tools that will be willing to lend a hand for a bottle of Sailor Jerrys or Captain Morgan.....same guy that showed me how to do mine. Really good dude, and smarter around a workshop than Ill ever be, haha.

I broke more than one on my "95" tacoma. Had them replaced at a local spring shop.
If it were to happened on my "09", I would replace the whole pack, instead of just one leaf.

I cannot recommend it, but I have seen a guy drive a Toyota pickup for a very long time with broken leafs. Just be easy on it and get it fixed.
