Welded in some strongbacks at the seperation point. Should add strength.

Got some work done. Repainted the welded areas, loosley fitted the boards, did some wiring for the lights, and installed new 5100s and OME coils in the front and replaced the lower ball joints. Also replaced the cv boots with long travels and did the cv boot stretch.

I'm pretty happy with how she's coming along.

Also in the middle of fabbing up some sliders. They're just clamped in as of right now. Going to fit some supports and the brackets where they'll be bolted to the frame.

The airbags showed up the other day as well as the ARB duel air compressor. My plan is to weld up a box under the flatbed for the air compressors to be mounted in with a quick air detach. Still a lot of work to do.

Also downloaded plans to weld up a trail bumper that'll be shortly in the works.

First attempt at rock sliders. 1.75 dom at .120 thickness. Should take some abuse.

I don't think you're over weight at all here I think you just built the bed level across while a stock truck has bump outs for the wheel wells. If you look at your truck with the original bed on it the tops of the wheel wells are a couple inches above that crease in the door panel and your new bed is about an inch or two lower.

Did some more work with the bender. Also welded in some gussets for added strength.

I just read through the whole thread, damn good build dude. I’m just getting into welding after pulling out an old Hobart my dad scored at a garage sale years ago. I haven’t done any projects yet but it’s fun, first project is installing some rock sliders/repairing them. And seeing your build gave me a couple idea for a flat bed. I’ve been wanting to do an Aussie style box/flatbed. Watching what you’ve built from the start till now definitely gives me some confidence in learning how to weld and fabricate. I’ve always been more of a mechanic than fabricator. Awesome work man!

Thanks bud. Get after it! Welding is a lot of fun. My frame rot was a blessing in disguise. It's been frustrating at times just starting out. I've burned myself more than I'd like to admit. Get a quality welding hood and some proper protection. Be able to see is critical.

Painted and secured the sliders. When I tightened the mounting bolts done the tube makes contact with the body. I'm going to figure out some spacers.

In the process of fabbing up a front skid plate since my oem one is long gone. Made a cardboard template and transferred to 3/16" plate.

Just went through this bullshit as well on the 00 xtra cab prerunner…. Bought a regular cab brace off Amazon $140) since autorust wanted $70 in fedex shipping. Fuck that. Needed some fabrication but homie made it work.

Stoked to be back on the road causing problems.
