Not needed. Good luck with that, hope tour diff doesn't explode.

All solid axle fails in this video...granted they're Jeeps so maybe that has something to do with it, lol

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/-_Rewrd8Fq8

Seems like on at least half of them it's a u-joint (?) failure on either end of the axle

Well...now I’m getting all paranoid about my diff drop. Be honest fellers. I trail ride and rarely do anything where my wheel gets more than 4” off the ground.

Should I remove them? (Not trying to hijack thread)

That's that new 360 degree horizontally pivoting rear axle I've heard about isn't it?

It's not that it happened. It happened because of his negligence. Then he comes on here pretending he did nothing wrong, asking if anyone else has had this "problem," like it's somehow a manufacturing flaw, then complaining Toyota won't cover it under warranty.

Take responsibility for your actions instead of trying to blame someone else for your fuck up. It's a common theme in the 3rd gen forum.

diff drop was not the reason this happened, I refuse to believe that. Diff drops put more stress on the front diff bushings but that's about it. Just means you might have to replace the bushings in 100k miles instead of 200k, who knows.
All a diff "drop" does is it tilts the diff forward a tiny bit. I suppose if you stacked washers and put a big enough tilt on it, you could argue that it's going to mess with the oil's ability to lubricate the gears properly but no one stacks washers on a diff drop (at least they shouldn't).

Anyway diff drops aren't worth the trouble IMO, they do very little if anything to help CV angles. Best thing you can do is minimize your suspension lift (~2 - 2.5" max) and use larger tires to gain ground clearance. Larger tires are the only true way to gain clearance anyhow.

Ever replace your CVs. I don’t want to do that
