A few days ago my horn stopped working, and after doing the main recommended checks it still wasn't working. Then I noticed that the wiring broke off the horn, looks like due to corrosion. I know a little bit about the inner workings of my truck but know next to nothing about electrical work. What would be the best way to approach this fix? I'm not opposed to replacing them with some Hella horns, but admittedly I'm intimidated by messing with wires.

    Thanks in advance!

It had to break off right it the connector.
    I hate when that happens.

    You have 3 options.

    1. De-pin the connector. carefully try to pry the terminal ends open a reuse them. (I'm a hack. I'd try this first.)
    2. De-pin and re-pin with new terminals
    3. Junk yard and cut off the pigtail and splice.

Unless you can find a pre-made pigtail somewhere online?

This happened to me. I found that the wires and connectors had become very brittle with age and heat cycling (they're practically kissing the radiator), and I had to cut pretty far up into the harness to find good wire.

If you're not trying to keep your rig 100% stock, you can pick up a set of pretty decent two-tone Hellas for not a whole lot more than you're going to spend on pins/connectors/tools if you don't already have them, and they connect with standard spade connectors. Insulated spade connectors with a little dielectric are every bit as reliable in that location as the factory connectors.

The horn will obviously sound different, but that's not necessarily a bad thing considering what they're meant for.
