The passenger side rear shock absorber mount on my 2004 Tacoma broke the other day due to rust. Has anyone had experience with this? I was hoping to find the mount and weld it back on. I would also need to replace the head of the absorber itself but I'm not sure that's possible? Do I need a hole new absorber? I'd like to buy the parts online if possible but I was also thinking about going to a junk yard and using a grinder to cut the mount off. Thanks in advance for any help.IMG_6596.jpg

You should be able to still buy the upper shock mount from Toyota from the online dealer you like best.

If your shock is broken time for new Replace both the rear ones

Might be time for some Attention to the rest of your frame

You should research the frame rust issues with Tacoma pick ups. I believe a recent class action suit that was just settled covers 2004 or 2005 and newer truck frame issues. Also first generation frames are still covered if they were undercoated earlier in there life. First step would be to call Toyota and discuss the issue with them. Not your local dealer. The number to call is 1-800-331-4331. Have your Vin number available when you call. Good luck.

I have a frame with front end damage. its off of a 2000 with no rust at all. Previous owner sprayed it with bedliner. very good condition. Or grind off one from a scrap car. I can get to my mount easily. Ill send you pics of it if youd like.
