Check out this lift guide. Your current block set up might predispose you to this early failure. Cheapest would be to just replace shocks but you might run into the same problem later (might be worth it if you don’t want to spend a ton of $$). Or you could get longer shocks/custom leaf springs but that might be expensive. Your current set up is causing a change in the shock travel which led to this failure. If I am seeing this correctly, looks like the shock has already started leaking? Or is it just the shaft extension that has failed? Or both?

Hard to tell. It was pouring when I took the pic. I’m taking it to Toyota tomorrow, it’s all still under warranty. Thanks team.

yeah, that looks like a shock extension. that is a cheap way to extend the shock. i wouldnt run that, along with at least 75% of the members on here.

post a picture of your rear block. im curious how big it is.

you can run the 5100.....but they are also rated for a specific height. they make them for 2-3" lifts 3-4" lifts etc.

They are cheap! I repeat. Replace the hitachis ASAP if you don’t want any issues. Stripped shock bolts when removing the rusted nuts. And rubbing on the shock reservoir, proving the shocks are pre-defective.

Trying to figure out what this is.. if you look more at the pic.
What is the steel hollow looking rod attached to the bottom of the strut mount area? I just changed my shocks and didn’t that there. Is that for a lift or something? To my knowledge this is not part of the shock absorber…

Take that thing off and put the strut bolt in where it’s supposed to go. It’s ruining your nice truck. Did you buy it that way?

    Thanks for your service!

Tell them to peel that shitty "lift" off and return your hard earned money. If they want to replace w the same crap,, I'd just look at getting a real lift.

It'll be interesting to hear whether they cover it "under warranty," clearly the stock shock absorber configuration was modified w/ aftermarket parts which caused the failure.
