Broken Shock - Leaking Axle Housing WTF

    I concur with Timber and Nirvana.... That's a weld to hide the leak...

    Ya, make sure you disconnect the battery before MIG welding. I made that mistake once.

    I had a pin hole coolant leak in the block of a Ford small block V8 in my '67 Mustang. I arc welded it which fixed the leak but I never disconnected my battery and the welder reversed the polarity of the battery. So, in order to get everything running I had to connect the battery cables to the opposite terminals of the battery. On a newer vehicle I am sure more damage will occur.
