Sorry, dont know the size as I got a free set at Toyota, but they are rather inexpensive there too. They might give them to you also if they know you.

Or, do you have a True Value store? They always let me take hardware outside to check sizes on my car.

Googled it for ya: “2016 tacoma skid plate bolts”

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/skid-plate-bolt-size.380477/

If you cant find those at HD or Lowes as they’re metric, True Value will have them. Good luck with those, I keep extras in my truck just in case.

any chassis bolt that fastens to a welded nut will eventually seize due to rust and then then welds will break free when you torque on it.... skid plate bolts, sway bar bracket bolts, front bumpstops are the most notorious. I antiseize them all

I had this issue happen to me just the other day. Tried taking off the skid plate and I broke off the heads of three of the bolts. I ended up having to smack off the old welded nuts.

I looked into welding more nuts on there but found another easier method. I used the clip on nuts (also known as sheet metal nut or a speed nut) with new bolt and washer. I put those in place very easily, used a good amount of anti-sleeze in hopes they don't seize up to bad for the next time I remove it.

All hardware was purchased from Lowe's
    Bolt Size - M8
    Washer
    Appropriate sized clip on nut

How come pretty much every car dealer on the face of the planet is a giant steaming pile of shit? They will cut every corner and lie to you all while trying to fuck you over.

Question - Wouldn't be best to replace the oem skid bolts to something more durable/industrial?

Make sense to me. I ended up getting stainless steel and slopped on a tone of anti-sleeze. Will see how that works out.

Question for the masses here, Has anyone ever chromed out their skid plate and bolts? I know it doesn't make sense to do it for those that off road a lot but maybe those who do little to none off roading this could look slick.

You have to both antisieze the bolts and hose the nuts down with LPS3 or something similar or they will rust and break pretty quickly in northern areas.
