How have I not seen this Marcel?!

Sweet TC.. love the 8.0 series.. and diggin the matching colors

Here's the Taco and the GF's 13 TC..

She just got a rear spoiler for it.. started the mod bug. Lol. But.. now, she's thinking of trading it in for a 8.0.. she originally wanted one, but the dealer didn't have any.. they are wanting to buy hers back.. told her she might be able to get into a 8.0 now. How are you liking it?

Giving the GF the mod bug is full of win! Until the bank account starts complaining. Lol.

I am absolutely loving the car, only real complaint is I wish it had 2 12v plug ins instead of just the 1.

I would say do it for sure, the RS 8.0's suspension is the world of difference. I drove a stock tC, FR-s, and my RS 8.0 when I was test driving new vehicles. I currently have 22,500 km's on my car. I take er everywhere with me. Been modding and going to keep doing so as well! Stay tuned cause I'm in the middle of tweaking something awesome :spy:

Also, get a manual tranny, lighter than the auto.
Hahaha the girlfriend wants me to do everything to her car ('09 Mazda 3 hatchback) but I told her she'll have to do it with me to learn.

Awesome. Ill pass that along. She has an account on here already... guess she felt left out of the trollz. Lol. Told her to check out your build. So she might pop in later. Lol

We were actually looking up 8.0s the other day. And came across the picture of your body skirt broke.. then find out today its yours. Lol. Small world.

The only thing is.. she will probably end up getting the auto. She knows how to drive stick, just the convenience of an auto in the city and traffic is nice. It does have the paddle shifters tho right? That could be fun. :D when I drive her TC I bump it over to manual short and bump through the gears. I sometimes miss a manual.

The paddle shifters are pretty fun too :spy:

To combat this heat soaking issue, I decided to add a small cowl induction effect to the back of the hood. I started by pulling off the two lower windshield plastics, (Remove wipers to do so, 1 Bolt each, pull straight out from car hard). The windshield rubber seal is held on by these lil white clips. Stretch the rubber 1/2" to pull it off of them.

This sheet metal lip is also important in that it shields/seperates the cabin air intake (lower passenger side of the windshield) from taking in hot engine air and/or any leaking fluids/gases smells.

So when I cut into the plastic I measured to ensure I didn't go too deep.

I also only cut into the right half of the panelling, also to prevent any engine bay heat/fumes from trailing into the cabin intake. You could cut farther left if you wanted but this is an issue you would have to deal with.

Also you can't cut out the far right side because there are support clips in the way. It is also over the shock mounts anyways, wouldn't be of much effect even if you did. You can see the two round bumbs where the clips are in the pic:

    Mind the (Now useful) Gap:

Afterwards I did another heat soak (let car idle for 15 minutes) @ 24 degrees C outside. These were the results:

I accidently cleared the page results (pressed home button by accident on phone) but the temps seemed to rise slower than before. Timing advance hovered around 11.5 to 13 degrees, blipped up to 15 for the screenshot but that wasn't the norm. The coolant was still hitting 95C turning the fans on then dropping to 90C. The big change though was my intake temps never rose above 77 C instead of the 82C it was before. You can feel the heat rising out from underneath.

****WARNING: Doing this WILL (However slightly) increase the engine noise when standing outside near the car. You CANNOT hear a difference from inside the vehicle.*****

*All of this was performed with the lower fog light plastic IN PLACE. Planned to test this afterwards.*

I taped back over the holes with electrical tape, did another small heak soak, temps seemed to rise faster, planned to do actual timed tests to see for sure. Weather took a shit, started pouring rain and dropped to 11C ambient and so couldn't do a proper comparative test yesterday. This morning my ELM 327 bluetooth module broke, processor fried, I'm amazed it lasted 2, 1/2 years. New one on order before I can do another test. Good thing I was planning to replace it anyways

I may have to look into this as well, but would have to check intake temps first though :anonymous:

Let me elaborate, the cooling system on this car will easily last the length of the average car. Personally I'm just trying a few different things to improve upon it. The repeated heating and cooling over the years and age will eventually degrade components under the hood of any vehicle. If I can slow that process down, awesome.

This will just help pull some heat out, you could most definitely benefit from insulating your air intake though.

Right I'm sure it will, but I know my hood loves to get really toasty and that could cause premature paint issues on the hood and issues with other components. Plus I'm sure the engine would like cooler air going into the intake anyways ;)

Waiting for parts to arrive is worse than waiting for sex.

Removed 12 pounds worth of stuff yesterday, yes I weighed it, that bored. Removed old lug nuts from when the dealer put the lock nuts on the wheels out of the car. Pulled out the rear cargo mat and spare set of floor mats thats been sitting in my trunk since I bought the car. Also went through my glove box and pulled out the manufacturer car pouch that contains all the warrantee/safety info + Car Owners manual. Filed away the important stuff, threw out what was in another language, started cutting large amounts of the useless "filler" type things from the manual(Example: Other language stuff, Wear seat belt, this is your door nob, this is the gas door, etc..). About 1.5 pounds of paper work alone and my car manual now only contains useful info

After an insane amount of BS between that low-life seller and Paypal dispute, he was eventually forced to send me the parts, albeit a month late. Surprisingly they actually were the right parts, arrived in decent condition so got em installed with the help of Senior Krazie.

    Stock Rotors Weight: 50.86 Pounds
    R1 Performance Weight: 49.2 Pounds

A whopping 1.6 pounds weight savings haha. Honestly I was expecting 5 pounds at least. Probably placebo effect but steering feels lighter, more of the weight saved was in the front as they are much beefier rotors. Brakings nice and grippy now, loving that and they look freaken sexy!

Got the new OBDLink MX installed in the car plus the new tracking software for the laptop.

Getting base model readings set up. Spare fuel line showed up in the mail yesterday. So I have one I can mangle for this fuel preheating system, should be set up within the next month.

Also starting to get the window tinting put on, going 35% all around, just enough to give some privacy without being annoying at night.
