About a week after supercharging my Xr, I was out on the highway/track/mexico playing with the governor when I kicked er back into neutral in order to coast back down to regular speeds and my engine shut off on me. I discovered after some online snooping that this was due to the new URD True Cold Air intake that was part of the S/c kit.

Apparently at excessive speeds, the wind creates a buffeting effect in front of the vehicle and the truck cannot maintain Idle. Causing a loss of power steering/brakes/etc... So I had to purchase the URD front intake shielding to combat this issue, and I figured because of all the wet & snow I might as well buy the Water bag for the intake too

Thought I'd join the chorus...I'm only on my second winter w/ the truck...but I honestly think I'd be looking to replace the carpet if I didn't have weather techs. ;) Now that I'm thinking 'bout it...should probably pull them out and clean them....

Did you guys hear that the 2012s have a vinyl/rubber floor option. That's something I'd really like to have...but I wonder what it would do sound wise in the cab? :notsure:

How do you like your Homer Taco Grill? I've been mulling one over for some time now. Think I'm close to pulling the trigger.

It'd depend on the rubber I'm thinking?? closer to plastic (more dense) and it'd reverb sound alot more. If it was closer to rubber then it'd probably aid in the deadoning.

But from some of my random carpet inspections I can definitely say the stock carpet doesn't to too much for sound deadoning. My 07' Tacoma sounded alot like my old 95' Chev S-10 noise wise before I added my sound proof undercoat. <- Which I HIGHLY recommend, I can carry on normal conversations with people at 150km/h

    What did that cost?

regular satoshi, thin lip, color matched (mines chrome--don't really care for it).

I remember it being about 600$?? or maybe 500$?? It was in combo with the rust proofing coating... can't exactly remember. I've got the reciepts at home though, from some company called "Diamond Kote"(I think) that the dealership put on.

ewww...... chrome... are you going to be getting the mesh painted black too??

I just went and looked at Craigs thread again...and it hit me, I'm gonna get a color matched Homeroshi in M0 black mesh. Done! ... gonna advise wifey in the morning and PM Craig!

Thanks Marcel ... you've inspired me ... been sitting on two truck mod decisions 4EVAR! After reading your build thread ... I've made up my mind. BackRack Headache rack and Homeroshi grill! Bam! FMMFW (for MQQSE's MF WIN!)

I'm more functional on my truck...so it won't be as cool as yours...but it'll be mine.:D

He does some wicked work, I pm'd you some info on it
I'm curious to know how the rustproofing will hold up over the years myself, I can already verify the soundproofing works awesome! Just make sure you let the truck sit and the sound coating cure for the suggested 24 hours, I kinda didn't :anonymous: I have a lil bit of road dust imbedded in the rubber haha. It's hardly noticable though

Crazy thought...random neural firing...your thread is awesome...what would you think about turning this into "BT's Far North Garage" or something like that...folks would come, I'm sure of it.

That's where JDMcQs Garage came from...used to be his build thread!

Just thinkin' ... it'd pull us out of the main stream American and Canadian BS Threads...:notsure:

I'm thinking the only reason this hasn't turned into a BS shit storm is honestly because I only update it in the wee morning hours haha. But yea I just thought to add a lessons learned section in the OP, I'll put all my northern lessons in there :D :canada:
