So what some of you are saying is, if there was no bull bar, all that plastic wouldn't break and fold like peanut butter???

No they are saying that the brush guard folds into things that wouldn’t have otherwise been affected. Like the hood at 5mph

It’s called a “brush guard” for a reason. The don’t term them as car reflection devices.

The reviews I read said no issues on the TSS.. But FL, you know, w/ pro style grill on an OR it can be a can potentially of worms w/ the TSS, brush guard not withstanding.Ha! So here we go...

No sensor warnings at all for months & months w/ brush guard (unless I take truck thru prairie grass - then it will consistently turn on after driving a bit back on gravel roads, then goes off on the way home, after 5-6 minutes - yeah it's weird.. errr or "normal"?)...but long trips.. like driving 2 hours it will/can randomly come on then in minutes go off. Again very random and only on long hwy drives (long drives are the only "pattern" - not a vehicle in front, or hills, etc.)- you tell me?

Now, here's where it gets muddier - on YouTube videos I have seen comments echoing this EXACT TSS behavior (only after driving hour +) - Ha! Brushguards are not part of the equation. Just folks w/ after market grilles, w/ or w/out the washer method. I've experimented there - No washer, single thin washer, and maybe two thin washers - it's had no obvious effect either way. 3 washers seemed to make the warnings happen more often on long drives.

I've recently unhooked battery for two hours for a TSS reset - saw that as possible solution before? But haven't done a long drive, post that. Oh well, I just hold the cruise button down for the "old school" no TSS cruise control function - easy work-around and sometimes preferred cruising that way anyway.

So, in conclusion. I never took 2 hour plus drives after installing the Empyre Off Road Pro grille (garnish they sell has good reviews - BTW, they've received a cease and desist from Toyota Corp, so closing out pro style grille sales as I assume other co's got this letter too? ) w/ the brush guard on - unfortunate - so I don't know? Installed brush guard months later. TSS has never gone off during normal daily driving, in town, etc, or quick hunting excursions w/ brush guard - ONLY on LONG hwy drives (again, finally found some complaining comments of this exact TSS behavior, no brush guard - Pro Grille thread)

    Correct.
And I drive on the prairie off road, w/ many scrubby wood like bushes that would scratch the livin' sh*t out of the front w/out this guard. So there's that. It's an obvious compromise between nothing and the leaden ARB type stuff. Those low heavy winch type bumpers won't do crap as the deer goes thru the grille, then into engine ...

Thanks for all the info. I installed a pro grille and garish from Taco Vinyl and have never had any TSS issues. With no brush guard of course.

Here's a minor impact that would have been bumper damage. Instead with the "guard" it is the entire front end. The hood would not have been hurt if the guard wasn't there to cause the damage. If you want the hoops up top to do anything, they need to be part of a well built bumper, not a bolt on guard.

Yeah, doesn't matter what you have on the front when you hit something the size of an elk. A small elk is 3 times the size of mule deer. Too much mass if you hit it at any kind of speed.

I can tell you when an Elk gets hit by a Vehicle it normally doesn't kill them it just breaks bones, So they lay there will Adrenaline pumping through their system until they are put down. So the meat is Not Good.
