Whilst this elk did not walk away, it was in pretty short order put out of misery and the carcass left for all the other critters to consume.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
You still don't want to hit anything with much force with that. The upper mounts can push back to your radiator mounts and take that out. I had one and got rid of it for a full winch bumper.

The TSS sensor isn't affected by that brush guard.

First, here's a thread on plate bumpers I haven't seen referenced here.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/plate-bumpers-after-impact-with-pics.379600/

Second, if all you want is a place to hang lights, get the brush guard. Especially if you have really good insurance.

I had the Armodillo referenced here. I bought it after a minor deer strike without doing a lot of research.

The problem with the brush guards is that they only have a solid mount on the bottom, and a weaker mount on the top. That top mount will collapse with anything much more than you rolling into someone while trying to park at the mall.

Before you buy anything, decide how you're going to use your truck and go from there. I use mine to overland and for moderate trails and built accordingly. I also have 45 mile commute through deer county. While this isn't perfect, it will most likely protect the "vital organs" on the truck and should get me home.

Not trying to sound like a know it all. I've made a few missteps as I've built mine. This can be expensive as this stuff isn't cheap.

If you're still having issues, there is a relocate mod for the TSS. Caliraised I think. Google can tell you for sure. It lowers the TSS, and the TSS recalibrate and works just fine. You will need the garnish or something to keep road dirt from hitting it.

All good stuff. Your bumper design has a way better chance of making it thru a deer hit.
Mine is truly functioning as brush guard. Yep a deer hit would have to be mild (time enough to really brake!) for the Armordillo to "perform".

Couple of months ago. It took about a month to get but worth the wait. Good quality and easy to install. The front facing camera bracket worked great.

EDIT: Actually I just checked. It was longer than a month. I ordered it on June 21 and it shipped Aug 10. Whenever I asked about status they responded quickly. The garnish was the holdup.

Unplugging from battery has helped w/ TSS and grille guard. Next long trip I took - 4 hours plus each way, the warning came on like only twice while cruising and briefly at that.

You all notice how many police vehicles (SUV's, sedans, etc). have consumer level "stupid brush guards"? A LOT.

I deal with this at work. Sometimes companies will create the shipping label as a notice the carrier to come and get it and consider it shipped at that point. Then we see a tracking number that shows "label created." That means they haven't picked it up yet.

The other issue we sometimes see is with USPS marking stuff delivered, just to have is it show up a day or two later. We think that when it gets to the last office before it gets to you, USPS scans it delivered because it's delivered to the people who will get it to you. They get to fudge the numbers with Amazon and such that way.

I have a police level :crapstorm: brush guard. It has 4 attachment points. 2 under the bumper and 2 over the bumper. All are about 1/4" plate and the top one fishplates the stock bumper mount and the frame horn in that area

how hard was that to install? Do they sell it without the winch mount and maybe a built in light bar ?

Wow! That light is nice. :thumbsup:I may have to do this. I never added the light because I wanted access to the winch clutch. Also, I don't look forward to running/wiring a switch in my dash. At least this still allows winch access. Thanks!

BTW AwesomeLaw68, it's a significant job to install. Not hard, but a fair amount of work.
