I have just put my first tank of fuel in the 2013 TRD 4x4 V6.

I went 410 kms on 60 litres of fuel. That works out to 16 mpg.

Does this mileage get better as the truck gets broken in? Good thing work pays me for the truck and for fuel. We are currently paying $1.299 per litre which works out to $4.92/US Gallon. That's $0.31 per mile.

It's cheaper to take a taxi to work right now!

    Thoughts?

It might get a little better but not a whole lot. I'm usually at 17-18 MPG in the winter and usually right at 20 MPG in the summer. I have a 6 year old V6 4x4 Tacoma. The addition of my shell actually helped a bit also.

If the company pays for the truck and gas, why does it matter? :notsure:

throw on a lift, tires, a roof rack, tow a trailer and get 11 MPG like I do most days; then you can cry on my shoulder, although I feel for you on the gas price you listed... I am paying about $4.10 for the cheap stuff here in California, which is a higher than most in the entire USA

My first tank was around 18.5 mpg. I drive the 6spd pretty light footed.

not so sure i would base mileage on one tank of fuel. especially not the first one.

my truck varies wildly. it depends mostly on my driving style at the time. my low tank has been 16 and my high was a whopping 22.3..roadtripping thru AZ.

My mileage takes a big hit in city driving. I only got 360km out of my last tank. In Vancouver we are paying $1.46 per litre which equals out to about $5.85 a gallon for fuel.

Sounds about right for commuting in the city this time of the year. Winters will be worse obviously. Expect 14-15mpg in the city.

Check my sig for mileage stats. I got more than 150 fuel ups logged. Mine is a 6MT so theoretically yours should be very slightly better.

I filled up 60.2L yesterday, after driving 430km in the city commuting to work @ $1.289/L ($4.88/gal) for a total of 16.8mpg.

I just took my first road trip in my 13. I still have under 1k miles, but I'm averaging 21 mpg. I got 150 miles in just one 1/4 of a tank

According to Fuelly.com I'm getting 17.7 MPG overall. Click on the icon in my signature and you can see the charts of my usage. I only use premium, and have a little bit of a heavy foot FWIW.

The V6 in these trucks get no better or even worse mileage than some current V8 full size trucks

I bought the same truck in February. Since its warmed up here in Edmonton, mileage has obviously gotten better. I drive with a pretty light foot most of the time, following speed limits and whatnot. I'm averaging 12.3 L/100km (19.1 MPG).

TLDR: It gets better. Here's a link to my Fuelly: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/shamoth/tacoma

I noticed the same thing in my new 2013 (DCSB, 6 speed manual). I'm up to about 3500 miles on it, and I bounce between 17mpg for city driving, up to 21 for highway driving. For some reason the first tank was absolutely miserable as well (15.5 or something of the sort). I thought they might not have actually topped it off at the dealership or something like that. Maybe it was break-in, who knows, but I haven't hit that again since.

The 6 speed helps a lot on the highway, but it's tough to wring more than about 18-19 out of it around town. I just put a tonneau cover on it, curious to see if it actually makes any difference in mileage on the highway.

My mileage seemed to improve after the first 20K or so miles. I get about 2 MPG more with pure gas vs. 10% ethanol gas also.

Check out my Fuelly.com link. That's what I am currently getting on my 13 TRD Access Cab. I was getting better in my DCLB when I had it. I am hoping that it gets better. I am just above 8,000 km's. So you just have to be patient. Since work pays for it, what's the big deal?

I bought my new 13 back in Dec. right before Xmas and my first tank wasn't very good either. I think it was pretty close to what you got, 16ish and it was pretty much all town driving. I'm at a little over 5,000 miles now and it's averaging 19.5 in town and 20-22.7 on the freeway. Freeway driving MPG is largely dependent on how fast you drive. If I keep the rpm at 2000 or less I can in the 22's real easy and when I drive faster it steadily falls below that.

Do you have the manual or auto transmission? In town the auto trans does a little better on fuel mileage then the manual.

Another MPG thread, complains about 16 mpg.

Don't listen to me, I'm just stating the obvious.
