OMG! I bought I TUCK and my MPGeeez are bad! I know! I'll go blow a couple hundred bucks to maybe squeeze a couple more MPGeeeeeeeez out of it!!!!

Oh, and I average about 18...

The biggest "efficiency" difference in comparing the Taco with my last car is energy management through the corners. In my Focus, I could pretty much maintain any speed through a corner. In the Taco, I lose about 5-10 mph. This translates into me having to get back on the gas to get my speed back up after I leave the corner. Foot on the gas is no good for the MPGeeeez. Once I learned how to manage the energy better, my MPGeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez got better.

Drive a Taco like a car:

Every vehicle can be optimized, bad advice this time.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Calculations don't mean much, it's just a number imo. The people that bash the 4 banger likely haven't spent much more than a test drive in one and if it was new, yes it was gutless. But once they are broke in they are fine. I've been driving this truck for nearly 3 years and have only wished I had more power twice and that was for towing. But day to day commute I have never had trouble passing 18 wheelers on the highway, even in a headwind. Honestly, what does having 2 more cylinders mean to you? That's nothing to brag about, maybe some people are trying to live up to a status or some kind of big ego because they have 77 more ponies under the hood? Idk, don't really care what you drive but I just don't see why having 2 more cylinders makes your truck better than mine or mine better than yours for getting better mpg? What is the point?

With a Tacoma there isn't any point. It's optimized to the point where you're not going to get any more out of it when it comes to efficiency.

So you go and put an air intake on your Tacoma and tell me if your MPG get's better? Or driving above 2000 RPM. Please, enlighten me?

I drive my 2013 DCSB 4x4 TRD OR with the 6 speed conservatively and can usually get at least 21 on the highway

There are a lot of ways to drive more efficiently, air intake doesn't improve mpg, why do you bring that up?

That post is confusing as hell. Your name is XXXX and only a xxxxx would purchase a vehicle blah blah blah... (does that mean you purchased a vehicle without looking at real world mileage?) At least you spelled stupid right ;)

I'm just giving you shit man :D

My real world mileage is 22 MPG avg almost every time. Pretty happy with that.

Try driving it like you stole it. Honestly.

Not really. I drive mine like a fucking rocketship and I still get 19 MPGs. That's with a 3" lift, 32" tires (Went back to the 265x75R16's for summer) ARB bumper and 10,000lb winch with wire line.

    :jellydance:

Some intakes claim to yield better gas mileage, I actually noticed a difference with a intake on my mazda I haven't bothered doing it to my truck because...well it's a truck.

This is typical of my MPG. Just filled up today thinking my MPG was getting better but got 16.3 mpg...WTF??? I don't stomp on it and was wondering how some of you get so much better MPG? I am totally stock 1 year old and 20,000 miles.

I was avg. 19.5 mpg. After installing a AFE Sealed Pro Dry and Flowmaster American Thunder I now avg. 22-23. One note I do see a big difference if I get over 70 MPH on the HWY. This really drinks the gas.
