    Well got some good news and bad news about my shackles. They were able to powdercoat them red, the bad news is even with sandblasting...the galvanization still causes it to chip extremely easy. They aren't charging me for doing it cause the guy decided to do it to see how it would turn out. Guess time to order some non-galvanized ones....

    So apart from buying stainless steel..which is not even worth it..hmm Just called a place that sells lots of shackles and they say I would have to probably special order them so they are made without galvanization/powdercoated at the factory they are made.

    You can strip the galvanizing off very easy with muratic acid...I do it all the time;)

    Muratic acid...google search " how to strip galvanizing or hot dipped galvanizing off...tons of info out there on how to do it

    Lol dad won't allow me to get acid to paint two stupide shackles. Not quite surprised..if only you didn't live all the way over in frickin cali..guess ill try the vinegar or find a cleaner that has some hydrochloric acid in it lol

    take em back to the powder coat place and have them use muriatic on them. and then they can recoat.

    Called them and they said that would cost like $200 since they don't normally do it. My friend has some grinders so I'm going to buy a wire brush and bring them over there and see how that goes. Lol (I know about using a fan and making sure i dont breath the dust/fumes)
