You think it is the dog or the trainer?

House breaking was ROUGH for us. She eventually got it though. We ended up doing puppy and intermediate classes though for everything else and that was huge for us since we never knew where to begin when it comes to dog training. Now she's a boss.

It’s been slow process but we are moving forward. Figured out she really likes the clicker training deal. As soon as that thing is in hand she’s way better. Slacked off a bit with the recalls this morning and she got leashed for the remainder of the AM. I guess it’s to be expected.

Keep up the hard work training.. it’ll pay off. Looking back it was a blur for us. We got Zig a little older and through him in the truck and went cross country for 3 weeks after 2 weeks of having him. Came home and he was automatically a part of the family. I returned to work and my wife stayed home with him. At that point he didn’t connect with me and my wife was his person. Slowly it started changing again when I’d get home and play with him. I was his playmate and wife was his cuddler. While playing I would hold him down, showing dominance and now he knows his spot in our tribe. None of this was planned, just day by day figuring out what works for us. We’re in a good place now with Ziggy but once the baby comes in a few days it’ll be a whole new figuring out what to do and how to handle him with the life change. Heelers are very very very smart, they’ll figure out their place. Doesn’t mean they make it easy on us lol

Check out kiko pup vids on YouTube. This girl knows her shit and might give you some ideas when your little girl arrives. Been watching some of her training tips and it’s paid off just in the last day or two. Talked to a friend who’s a certified trainer and former K-9 unit officer. He was a great resource. Building everyone’s confidence and being on the same page has helped.

On a side note I’m trying to figure out the flags pole trip. I have to get back over to that thread
