BSM failure

My blind spot monitor has failed and will not turn back on, when I attempt to turn it on an error msg pops up saying it failed. Anyone have this problem? Fix?

Or leave it on and learn how to use both it and you're eyes. Also you should know as someone on a motorcycle everyone is trying to kill you.

I have yet to sideswipe someone in my 28 years of driving. I think BSM is scary the way it is currently implemented.

I wouldn't be opposed to some kind of composite video showing all blind spots though. Would love to have a screen on each side of my rearview that shows a wide-angle shot of the road on each side of the vehicle. Sort of like having giant side mirrors.

 

I find the ones on the higher end cars tend to pick me up better than Hyundai and Kia ones when I'm on my Duke. Problem is once you're in front of them and you're definitely right, people don't look anymore.

 

You do realize people were getting in accidents for not looking prior to those things becoming mainstream....

The majority of them work very well and aid incompetent and older drivers in not merging into someone.

 

What did the dealer say/do? Mine just starting doing this yesterday

 

Finally took mine in today to have the BSM checked. They found code C1AB3 indicating a short to ground in outer mirror indicator (slave). BSM inspection also found that right rear sensor needs to be replaced, just as I had suspected since it tended to malfunction when a vehicle passed on the right. Parts were ordered.

They also ordered the correct bolts for the airbag module recall.

 

Mine ended up just a calibration issue. There's an airbag recall?

 

I think similar but not exact bolts were accidentally installed on a airbag ecu.
Not an real issue but they want the exact part number bolt installed.

 

Dealer replaced the right rear BSM sensor last week. So far no issues with it. Mine was also one of the 306 trucks with the incorrect bolts on the airbag module. They replaced those as well.
