It happens with age. They are all over mine and my grill is about to fall off soon so I will be replacing it.

Sounds like an excuse to get a color matched grille

I was actually just thinking about doing the grill in plastidip (or flexidip) - if i were to do this, would i just sand the bubble out?

Idk what that chrome is made out of but I don’t think it’s paint. It may be best just to buy an already colormatched grille

Yes. Replace it promptly with a paint matched grille.
    Problem solved.

The only fix is a new grille. Can’t fix the chrome.

I doubt it's "chrome" at all. While it's possible to electroplate chrome onto plastic, it isn't easy and it is expensive. More than likely they use "vacuum metalizing".

I didn’t mean literally chrome metal. I know it’s some kind of plastic wrap.

This is why I hate cheap chrome looking stuff as well as "aluminum" accented items on cars. They suck and eventually bubble.

Like my interior speaker grille surrounds on my door panels.

If you decide to plastidip I'd sand the bump. That will probably leave a crater so fill that with bondo (or similar filler) and smooth that out, then plastidip. :notsure:

Maybe poke the bubble with a pin and see if it’s just filled with air.

I doubt it though, probably need a new one.
