I recently completed my bucket seat swap with seats out of an 01 Corolla that match the Taco interior pretty well. I was also able to swap in the center console from a 99-02 4Runner that hooked to the stock Taco shifter bezel with just a little dremeling. I now have 4 cup holders in the front and a lot more storage.

I’m sure it would as the bezel around the shifter is still the Tacoma bezel.

Yup, I did the swap on my truck with parts from an '04 Tacoma and it fit fine. Had a bench and the 4x4 bezel. Just had to drill holes through the floor for the rear of the console and it fit perfectly.

Would this swap work in a 2001 reg cab 4x4 Tacoma?

I’m sure it will. I used the Tacoma shifter bezel so it should.

Yup I have the exact same truck. As long as you're willing to drill some holes everything will fit in fine.

The console swap is nice (and looks great), but I'm more interested in the seats. How much work went in to making them fit?

The Corolla seat rails are wider than the Tacoma ones. I had to cut the feet off the Tacoma rails without destroying them, cut the feet off the Corolla seats and then weld the Taco feet onto the Corolla rails to where they aligned up with the factory Taco bolt holes. It wasn’t hard so to speak but time consuming and a lot of measuring and adjusting to get them right where they bolted in correctly.
