I have 60/40 seats in my 1996 Tacoma LX. The 40 (passenger side) is fine, but I'd simply like to replace the rather beat 60 side with a single bucket seat.

Is there any reason I couldn't / shouldn't do this? Anyone else do something similar?

I had standard buckets in my extra cab and upgraded to Tacoma Limited seats. They have bigger/sport bolsters, height adjustment and power lumbar. Very similar to 4runner seats and definitely a step up in comfort. Not sure how they compare to aftermarket seats though.

I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Thats why I keep my 99.......I finished paying for it twelve years ago. Lots of "free"miles

^^ Purchase seats and brackets, remove existing seats (disconnect electric plug under DS), install both inner seat belt attachments to the bracket, mount brackets to the floor, mount seats to the brackets.
I used stainless button heads hardware to attach the seats to the brackets. Waste of time... use the included hardware, it'll save you time.

    Necro quote…

how did you hook up your power lumbar?

I scored a set of limited seats but there’s no harness under the seat for the lumbar as far as I can see. (Yes I checked under the carpet)

It has been such a long time since I did this I don't even remember...it still works though.

I'll get back to you once I have time to look into further. Hopefully in the next day or two.

    Pretty well stock
Do late model Tacoma seats fit in our first gen Tacomas. It seems I never see them in the junk yards, but maybe I could find something.

I’m sure with some fabrication. I wouldn’t imagine they’re direct bolt ons considering the bigger cab.
