I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, I'm wondering if anybody can help me choose a budget 3-3.50 inch lift kit.

Bilstein 5100's. New coils, new leaf packs. Light racing UCA's and a carrier bearing drop kit.

Reach out to headstrong off-road. Marie will get you right.

I don't plan to do any extreme off-roading or rock crawling just a good suspension that's good on and off road

That's literally everything I installed about 5 years ago and it's been great. You don't wanna go over 3 inches. All from Marie.

Keep it 2.5-3 so it doesn't look silly and you don't have more issues down the road.

In my experience there's no such thing as a budget 3" lift. Especially if your talking about a daily driver. I've had a couple first gen tacomas with "budget 3" lifts". I wound up having to replace multiple CV Axles on my 03, both trucks drove fairly crappy, and I had some vibrations on my 96. Both needed the proportioning valve relocated for the rear brakes to work "properly"

I feel like anything over 1.5 - 2" lift requires relocation of a lot of stuff in a 4wd .... IF... your plans are to daily drive the truck and have it drive nice. Over time the budget type lifts wound up nickle and diming me in the long run over 100k.

    Just my .02

    is about the minimum

    above that is Fox

wanting 3” (probably too high) explicitly stating planning to avoid clearing off road makes zero sense

I had 5100s on my red first gen on the lowest setting .75". They were installed with new rubber seats and new stock springs. They were not horrible. I would have rather honestly just rather purchased stock SR5 shocks.

It all depends on what size tire you want to run. if youre looking at 33s, you need to start looking at Cab Mount Chops, UCA's, fender trimming, alignment....etc etc...its not just a lift and call it good, UNLESS youre looking at MAX tire size 265/75/R16 or something
EDIT: there are people who run 285s, but they rub, and if youre going offroad, they will rub even more..

Don't cheap out on a lift. You're gonna end up paying way more in the long run due to your budget lift causing other components to fail prematurely. If you can't afford to do it right, don't. Just max out your tire size.

    Yes. But not at 3".

1.5 - 2" you can get away without breaking the bank. Even then, to do it right you have to spend a little coin.

Like others said... It kind of all depends on what you're doing with your truck and how often you want to replace prematurely worn components.

3" lift is a lot if your not getting to the trail a whole lot and personally looks strange to me if you don't have some pretty big tires.
