So a guy near me has a low mileage set of front and rear take off Bilsteins from a 2020 TRD Taco that he's selling for $240. Question is will these stock 2020 bilstein trd shocks fit my 2024 SR5 with no modifications? Also, how do you think this will affect ride quality both off and on the road?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this potential budget upgrade.

It is my understanding that 3rd gen suspension parts are not compatible on the 4th gens.

Bilstein still has nothing on their website for 2024+ Tacoma as of today. Strange.

Yeah, I don't get it. Fox has shocks for '24 tacomas.. Even the King shocks. We are in 2025 now.. I guess they are retiring those shocks for '24 and up... I hope not.

For starters, the front shock mount has 4 studs on yours vs. 3 studs on 2005-2023...

But no it won't fit. Different motion ratio, different lengths, different fastener sizes. Plus the yellow chopstick-thin OEM Bilsteins were already undersized for the 3rd gen application, so they wouldn't hold up to the 4th gen's heavier weight.

Save your $240 and put it towards some shocks built for your truck that are an actual upgrade.

Thanks a million for that information. From now on it's gonna be "Built for the 4th Gen only!"

Eibach lists their Sport Truck shocks for the 2024-2025 Tacoma. I am running those shocks on my 5th Gen 4Runner, with the fronts set to .85" lift for a bit of leveling. A set of 4 of those would set you back $536 but would be a definite upgrade.

Thanks for that info. Have you run them off road? If so, how does the ride off road compare with the stock ones that cam with your 4Runner?

They are definitely a better shock than what came stock on my 4Runner. A bit firmer, but not harsh in any way. Those who run these shocks that have also run Bilstein say the Eibachs have a less harsh ride. I don't do a lot of off roading in my 4Runner, but when I have, the Eibach shocks perform very well. A definite plus of any aftermarket shock for the 4Runner is they seem to greatly reduce any nosedive when braking. I don't know if the 2024+ Tacomas suffer from a nosedive issue or not.

My 4Runner also has KDSS, so it's a bit hard to compare its ride to a Tacoma. Perhaps someone who has switched to Eibach shocks for their 2024+ Tacoma can chime in on the difference from stock.

Maybe you could take one for the team and be the first! :)

Pretty sure that 3rd Gen suspension parts are not compatible with the 4th gen. Just wait for someone with a 4th Gen OR to upgrade their suspension & buy their takeoffs. I believe a poster in here has already done this & liked the results...

Yep, now looking for someone with 2024 OR take-offs, preferably not to far away from ATL/my area so's I can go pick them up rather than pay too much for shipping.
