Stock. Looking for suggestions of best mods.
Good day, I'm in the market for a new bumper and hitch setup for my 2006 TRD OR and figured since it needs to be replaced anyway (upstate NY truck, so it's completely rusted out. Frame was replaced in 2016 by PO, so that's good), why not get something more off-road useful and sturdy?

And why stop there? The front is the plastic stock bumper. A winch setup would be useful, as would a set of skids.

Anyone have any luck with budget (eBay or Amazon) bumpers and skids that don't cost a fortune, but are still well made?

I'm definitely not opposed to anything used or imported.
This is my first Taco, so I'm just getting started making add-ons. Maybe the pricing out there is normal and just needs some getting used to. :notsure:

    All help is appreciated!

You could start with the vendor list here on the forum and check for their 'Group Buys' for discounted pricing. You could also check your local 'for sale thread' and see if anyone is selling a used one.
Just consider if you want a winch or not, that will vary the pricing a little and take into consideration if your suspension will handle the weight(whether a winch up front or a rear with swing outs).

Having just found my way out of the same rabbit hole, just know that you're starting to head down a rabbit hole of sorts. There are options for buying cheaper armor, but you get what you pay for, so how well made is a different story. Though, for many people(probably myself included) if you're not doing hard wheeling where armor is really going to get put to the test, it may not ever make a difference. Finish quality is one area that can get skimped on, as powdercoating is the popular option but GOOD powdercoating costs money, and bad powdercoating is just frustrating. Since you live in NY state, that is definitely a consideration factor.

It turns into a rabbit hole when you start looking at whether a suspension upgrade will be needed. Your 06 may be ready anyway, my 08 was...but bumpers + suspension turns into a chunk of money pretty quick. Not to mention good armor generally has a bit of a lead time, and be prepared to be disgusted with what you're gonna pay for shipping. By far your best option is to find what you're looking for on the used market, it's just not as commonly found and shipping is still insane.
