Been busy working on the house. Renovations for the wife and what not.
Found bit of time tonight to work on my roll bar/cage. Main hoop is bent up. Gonna do a ladder rack style with some X braces for side impacts.

angles were tough to figure out for the notches, but turned out perfect.

A buddy of mine and I split the notcher and bender a few months back. We’re still figuring it out so there’s a slow learning curve.
Here’s his tacoma we 3 linked a few months ago.

Yep. It didn’t show it on the website but I was pretty happy when it showed up that way.
Probably has to be that way so a TRE will fit through.
I bet a hole for heims wouldn’t have that notched out.

That’s freaking sick. I love it. If I do end up SAS it won’t be leafs, mainly because I want a lower ride height. I have nothing against leafs besides the tall static height.

And please don’t regard my leaf height comment as negative, OP you have done an incredible job on this truck and I really love it. It looks like it sits great and the fab work you’ve done on it looks top notch. I salute all your hard work!

I appreciate that. It’s alotttt of work lol.
I think some stock fender flares would really make it appear lower.
There’s only 4 to 5 inches between the top of my Diff and the motor.

I bought the sky pitman arm bored for a 3/4 bolt so I could use my heim joints. It came notched like that, let's the bolt head sit flush so I could hug tje frame even closer with the arm.

Alright, I need some opinions. Here’s what I have tacked together. Need to pull it out of the shop to get a better view of what’s going on.
What should I add to this main frame or change before burning it in?
I plan to add an “X” right behind the cab for side impacts. I need to brace it front to back too somehow. And I plan to add a rack just below the window above the fuel cell ran to the back for a cooler etc.

Too square. Run it back then angle it down and just be vertical in the very back for like a foot or so. Unlesd you plan on doing something like WheelEveryWeekend on IG then it looks good

I wanted to keep it somewhat level up top for hauling stuff up there. Kayak, lumber, metal, whatever. I do think I could drop it a little in the rear, but I don’t want to drop it too much.
it would probably look better lowered, but I’m more about function on this than looks.

Sweet build stumbled in here from the SAS forum. I did a low rider SAS on my 1st gen and had the same problem of banging the drag link off the oil pan and tie rod off the steering box as I only have about 2" of up travel and 12" of down travel. Start saving for airbumps now, they will cure it. I'm the cheapest bastard ever and I'm glad I dropped the money on a good set. Really smooth things out offroad and on road it's like having a sway bar up there. My drag link still kisses the frame but it's much more controlled now.
